your excesses will be listed on your policy... dig up your paperwork and check
these days cars dont get written off as quickly and easily... they can PDR fix a lot of them

Hopefully your insurance company gives you a 3 year new car replacement policy if you owned your car since new. Because if they write it off, you will only get market value.

racv is market + modification, i think access is about $600 it is under flood, storm or a malicious act.
it says
Cover for loss or damage
We (racv not me :D) will cover loss or damage to your vehicle caused by any of the following incidents:
-an accident including a collision -flood -fire -malicious act -storm -theft or attempted theft
We will decide whether to:
-repair your vehicle,or -paay you the cost of repairing your vehicle. or -pay you the agreed or market value, depending on the cover listed on your current Certificate of insurance less any applicable deductions.
but prob be safe to take what you want from the car if they want to give your market value :D
check you policy details to be safe on mine it says im insured for market value. The market value includes all modifications, options and accessories attached to your vehicle at the date of an incident.

Sorry to hear about your car. saw a lot of other cars on the news with similar damage. Saw a report on Today Tonight  about insurance fraud and they tend to write-off vehicles with roof damage since it'll cost too much to replace. So if/when they do decide to write it off they'll get you a brand new car!!
Good luck! Hope it all works out for ya

sigh should of brought insurance on my eg, it was sitting at my folks home and when i went to see it looks like an angry x-gf with high hills been tap dancing all over it, not to mention even the boot had a bit of water in it. Lucky the sound system survived. :D
Sorry to read of your probs, erorXXX; much sadness at your place, I bet.
Here in Newcastle many cars were written off after a massive storm in '07, because they'd been immersed to a certain depth, the write off because of the risk of future damage/problems with electronics. Hopefully, if yours is written-off, they will give you another car, depending on whether your insurance is market value, or agreed value. Market value is not good. Does RACV offer replacement on three year-old cars?
I guess by now you know that in a write off, they deduct your excess from the payment, AND the policy ends, which means you have to buy new insurance. Gulp!
A Civic near us was submerged in that storm, but seems to have suffered little ill-effects and runs quite normally, nearly three years down the track.
