my dc2r has been feeling weird lately. Like a loss of power, and last night the car started to jerk, and the engine check light lit up. Stopped the car and it was fine after that.
Before this happened, i usually run on bp ultimate, but i had to use mobil 9000. Has this happened to anyone before, and is there anyway of fixing it?

im not entirely sure but it could be the different fuel.

is the mobil stuff 98ron?

yerh. I had a feeling it might be a clog in the fuel?

you may of got the end of the barrel of the fuel when you filled up.. mobil doesnt have a bad reputation for dodgy fuel unlike small places eg 7/11 fuel and stuff that water down their fuel lol

ever try pulling the ecu error code?
even if the lights gone it should still spit out a code

No such thing as 'end of the barrel' man. Warning for 'low fuel' in the underground tanks come on at about 20,000 liters. The only way fuel could be at fault if he fills when the tanker is pumping more fuel into the underground tank (worst time to fill, dont do it) as the fuel gets stirred up and if there are any sediments on the bottom they get mixed with the fuel.

^ been told by my tafe teacher that it's correct how water gets stirred up hence everytime i see a them filling the tanks i come back after.

but this jerking is it, as soon as you step on the acelerator? as in if you put too much gas then it starts jerking whilst when you put a certain amount it drives normally?

How high are the revs when its jerking? On ek's this seems to happen a lot as they car gets older the revs drop back too fast instead of slowly dropping thus making the car jerk at low speeds, is this the case?

I checked the air filter, it was wet, due to that massive storm on saturday. So i think that was the problem. I also resetted the ECU, incase there were errors too.
The jerking started from a stand still. I drove off, about a second later it started to jerk. And the car wouldn't accelerate anymore, so I pulled over to check all the fluids. Car was normal afterwards. but I can feel the car has weakened.

but I can feel the car has weakened.

recently while driving on the highway in the wet conditions, my filter got wet, and it just made like a putt putt sound and just stopped. and wouldnt start...

after this it started and it seems to be okay. i figured if anything was screwed from the water id know, and i think you would too.

if you needed a rebuild i dont think the car would start or be drivable...

it may be in your head, or just paranoid?

if you think something is up, get a compression test done.

Replace the air filter with a new one. Once wet, the pores in the air filter media can blind off, sometimes permanently (water + paper = mush).

Also important that you get that CEL code read, in case there is some underlying damage that the ECU had detected.

Will do beeza. Hopefully its not too bad. Drove it today, and its fine. Don't wanna hit vtec incase i do anymore damage. Compression test was done less then 1000km ago, came out fine, nothing wrong with it. I have no clue, where to get a Arc filter from. I've been looking for new ones, and currently no one stocks them.

Always good to whip the plugs out and give them a clean up too, also clean up the 4 points on the inside of the dizzy cover and the edge of the rotor. All these routine things just help to eliminate the obvious things and costs nothing to do!

Thanks tOniies :)

my car check light came on after jerkyness in the car.

happened a lot and randomly. so honda checked it out and it was a throttle body error, so they reset my ECU and then a week later it happened again, needed a new throttle body.

installed a new one and presto all good!

probably not the case with you....but the same symptoms ;)

sounds like your sucking water in, at around a certain rev, did the tacho not want to move up , sorta like a mini rev limiter?. Then after sucking to much water the car shut it self off>?. Do you have a cold air intake?. Used to happen to me when i didnt have the splash guards installed and my CAI pod was exposed. After car drives normal. But i do remember after turning the car on it let out a lot of white smoke.

I have a Arc Super Induction box. I'm not sure if it was wet or not. The car didn't shut off, cause i pulled over straight away after that had happened. Hasn't happened in the past few days.

Just did the ecu test. The check light stays on and doesn't do anything. So nothing is wrong. I might just pull my box out and clean the filters. And check the spark plugs too. Cheers to beeza for the ecu test.

if a CAI sucks in water, should it shut off and seize up straight away (hyroseize) ??

the car will choke and most likely jerk and stall.

If it sucks a bit of water, it chokes. If it sucks a lot of water at once, it hydrolocks.
