Saw on the other day, a CTR vs V-tiR....off the lights...

1st gear, Ctr leads, 2nd gear...more than 1 lamp pose, 3rd...err...more than 2 lamp pose..err...or 3??...but bloody hell...that car really smokes that VtiR nicely...

That was kinda predictable. CTR is a gem of a car. But wouldnt give up my ITR for one. Was watchin BMI itr smoked ctr.

1 lamp pose = how many car length ????..err....i think like 3 car length or more rite...so when i saw that, it was like close to 10 car length away from the other...and my fren and i was struggling to catch up with the VTIR...and the CTR easily flying off...

i was thinking you ment thickness of lamppost in which case isent alot =P.. i think the lampost on the freeway are huge!!! like 5 car lengths each =P.. the ones in my house are tiny =P like wooden blocks attached by wires =P.. and nailed down with 2 inch nails =P..

LOL !
u clowns

the VTiR and type R are identical in power until VTEC hits.
A 15" sub and stereo in the CTR would counteract its power advantage over the stock VTiR.

An Aston Martin DB9 will beat all of us - as the bastard did last nite :(

was this done in a controlled environment, ie. dragstrip?
if not, then, sure the vtir may have been beaten, but it's just not a proper way of seeing by how much, as a lot of factors come into play, compared to a dragstrip, where you can and will get the true and best results!

my 1.5c!

Although on a drag strip its even plain. So results will be slightly differ. As stated ctr beat the vtir by 2 3 lamp post. THATS A MASSIVE GAP. I dont think it would make much difference on a drag stip.

It sounds like the VTi-R lost by a heap - iv ran teg Rs and been much closer (ITRs are faster than CTRs)....but then im not exactly sure what a lightpole is....

I think it could also have to do with the extra refinement in the CTR and the short ratios in the gears. But then i don't see a lightly modded VTiR beat a CTR. There was a reason for the 'Type R' otherwise honda would not have brought it out.

jeez, seems like a real lot. maybe vtir owner wasn't a very good driver.

Yup you could be right. Cos a friend of mine with a Civic VtiR and light mods was able to keep on par with a stock ITR.

it was probabaly more driver skill than anything... as in a simple teg vtir could rip a civic vtir.. civic vtir lacks torque... and heaps of it..
u can pull like a 15.3 in a vtir teg and the best civic ive ever heard is a 15.8...
exhaust and filter mod only and street tyres......ive raced many tegs... its mainly the top of 2nd and 3 rd when it rips u to shreds. but light poles is light poles..:honda: ...

since when have light poles been the in word...

does anybody know the quarter mile times of a CTR and a vtir??

simple times would be better than judging by light posts!! lol

I tested a stock VTiR (mine) in stock trim. The best i could do and not to much surprise on normal 'off the showroom' rubber was a 16.2. I ran 8 passes and i hit 16.2 on 3 of those runs. Again this answer will open another pandorax debate box. At the end of the day on any drag strip a CTR will win.

Facts: CTR 136kw, LSD, closer gearing and 1040-1090kg(EK9 model varients)
Facts: VTiR 118kw, no LSD, normal gearing and heavier at 1105kg.
Best motoring have covered these vehicles and i know the vids have been splashed around somewhere on the forums. :)

The CTR's are absolutely awsome!! I think they have quicker 0-100 times than an ITR aswell, but slower quarters.

CTR is your car an exact replica of a genuane CTR?? Authentic parts etc??
woulda cost a bundle mate!

I have stripped it and replaced all i can with full genuine CTR parts. Yeah it hasnt been cheap, but i like what im doing :)

Mate's doing 14s at the moment at eastern creek. His Civic Vtir has had more work now though, PowerFC, ITR cams, cam gears, full exhaust.
