Hey guys!
Quick one here!
Looking to reduce the sound on my DC2R's exhaust system by putting on the stock DC2R axle back muffler.
I have a 2 and a quarter inch system currently ending in a canon style axle back - yes it is loud. 106db loud. :(
I need to clear EPA's 90db mark.
My question is - if i put the stock axle back on - is it going to put me back to near OEM levels?? Or will the 2.25 piping still throw it out?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
it will subtle the sound, pretty quiet imo....also sleeper, cleaner look.
the dc2r muffler is restrictive.
a mate did it on vision cat back but kept his dc2r muffler

if it doesn't get it below that level, throw in a resonator in the line somewhere
(but if it's just for the test we've used packets of steel wool shoved into the muffler in a bud's rotor to get the level down in the past for track days lol, not saying to do so, just putting it out there)

theres only one way to find out really.
I can tell you this, on a DC5R with a Gruppe M intake.
Toda Headers, Metal Cat, Mugen B pipe, Stock Axleback = 94db
Toda Headers, Metal Cat, Stock B pipe, Stock Axleback = 91db
Toda Headers, Metal Cat, Stock B pipe, 1.5" Custom peashooter = 89db.
Cost me $40 each time to get it tested, so perhaps save yourself $40 and just change the B pipe just in case.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies - appreciated.
Today i got it sorted. After some trouble finding parts i managed to get a stock dc2r axle back and had that put on..sorted the noise no problem...and passed the EPA test. Rest of the piping was fine.
Noise is very very quiet....maybe something just a bit sporty will be good in future...
