Hey Guys,
I am new to this forum some awsome stuff on here!
I have a 1993 Civic fuel injected and just been sussing some stuff out for it and i came across this turbo kit on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-HONDA-CIVIC-EX-LX-DX-GL-CRX-D15-D16-EC-TURBO-KIT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem4a9c80d21dQQitemZ32 0453267997QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcce ssories
Has anyone has tried one of these kits?
Also would i have to change any internals to fit this kit?
I dont even know what my engine code is lol
Any help would be good......
Cheers Rolli

Seriously wouldn't touch that kit at all man. Its cheap for a reason.
Theres much better quatilty kits around.
Peakboost, AFI, Full Race. Theres a trader on here that sells Peakboost kits.
Can you find out what engine you have?
No need to change engine internals, but really depends on what you want out of the car.

Ok thanks man was just curious I dont want a power house or anything like that just a little bit of fun.How would I find out the engine code? Will it be in my engine bay?

When looking at the engine bay theres a number imprinted on to the block to the left of the headers. If not, just take a photo and post it up.
Its probably a D, but never can tell these days with all these engine conversions thats being done.

Wrong, ebay=hit or miss
This topic been covered many times. Lot of stories where people walk wih big smiles on their face on their egay product oherwise there are equal stories where items disintergrate on its first few weeks of use.
Personally either hv money to go big or go home

maybe have a look at this, should be around 2500$ aus shipped to you
http://www.frsport.com/Greddy-11550021A-1992-1995-Honda-Civic-EX-SI-Turbo-Kit_p_1784.html
comes with everything required. frsport normally have very cheap parts, but if you look around might be able to find better. even includes a pre-tuned ecu so its drivable, but should prob get a re-tune.
some kits from frsport even include RC injectors, dont know about this one, didnt read the add. kit also incluedes intercooler piping, you just need to buy a cooler.
as for install its very easy on a honda, give it a go yourself

seriously, if ppl buy parts because they are cheap then why bother.
i dont rate the greddy kits. they are okay i guess, but go the extra yard, and spend a bit more, it will be worth it in the end.
turbo-ing isnt cheap, so there is no point to finding a cheap alternative.

There is nothing wrong with the greddy kit, its a good start and they come with good turbos.
Going NA to Turbo is always going to give you headaches.
Don't go anything like that on ebay.
But good to see people are thinking more forced induction.
Its the best way to get power.
Don't knock my turbo lag it gives your V8's a chance ;)

I'm also considering going turbo. Just came off my P-Plates a few weeks ago and the idea of more power is calling...
Do you think maybe it'd be best to wait until I'm 25 though, when insurance won't do me from behind? :(
My mate just got an Audi Quattro, standard turbo, and he's paying $4g/year in insurance at the age of 23.

my insurance wont be going up when i turbo it. i told them what i wanted to do, to see how my premium would be affected, and i was happy with the result lol

Compared to the ebay stuff, Greddy is a decent brand kit. Whats your preference to Greddy?
Turbo's themselves i'd go HKS>Greddy, but usually twice the price.

well ive pieced my own stuff
spoolin manifold
garrett 3076r
rc injectors and the rest i wont bother saying
im just not a fan of cheap kits.
if you want to turbo your car for cheap, your doing it wrong, and its not worth it.
everyone has their opinions, and different experiences,
Fair enough. I really do think its the best way to go, research whats needed and get the parts yourself.
Yeah i've bought decent stuff (hks turbo, wg, manifold, dp, screamer) for cheap on Jahoo auctions and putting the rest together myself.
But when i say cheap i don't mean low quality, i mean cheaper then retail, half price actually.

lets say if i do get the greddy kit, is there much chance of upgrading the turbo itself to a bigger unit? or are most people stuck to using the little turbo given?

always a chance to upgrade your turbo provided that your current setup can support it. big enough fuel pump/injectors etc. my suggestion is do it so u dont have to change it.

yeah the greddy kit you can upgrade to a T28, but the manifold & dump pipe are abit restrictive, it will affect the flow of the turbo system.
I've heard of a few where its bad enough to cause pinging, when going up higher in boost
mugen_ctr
24-06-2010, 10:34 AM
Pinging is more related to your tune up, not the turbo setup.....
Well if the manifold and Dump is as you say, doesnt hurt to fabricate a custom item i guess.... but that is if your shooting for more than 200kw....
