It happens to my car as well. I hope that is the design.

mmm.. try resetting the ecu.
you can detach the battery leave it off for 5 - 10 mins and reattach it.
then try holding the auto down for about 10 seconds and it should reprogram it, you can actually try doing this first and see what happens.
YEAH HAPPENS TO ME TOO! i thought there was something down there. i just push out the glass and it goes up fine.

it might be that there not enough power from the battery, mine happens when i go on short trips and the battery doesn't get charged properly or something but when you let it charge it works fine
i thought that it was just me

If you clean and lubricate the window runners with silicon lube or lubricant like that it fixes the problem. Common problem. I have them in at work couple of weeks with same problem.

in regards to windows, went to the honda service and asked them to fix it, they said nothing was wrong.
so what happens is my drivers side window switch auto-function doesn't work sometimes. i can't demonstrate it for the dealer coz its at random times. basically what happens is the normal 1-click down/up is fine, but when i go to 2-clicks down/up (auto) the window stops.
with the passenger window i have a similar issue to above, window just about dies going up. i've tried the graphite dust trick with no luck.
my only idea is that the 'aftermarket' battery terminals (fkn chunky things) that some battery guy put on when i got a new battery are playing up. when i use most electronics in the car (windows, lights mainly) the revs drop a few hundred (you can feel the car shug a bit).
don't mean to hijack the thread, just asking questions bout windows :)

Sounds like an alternator problem. Did they do a charging test with the battery and charging system tester. Had the problem resently but with a euro.

not sure what they did. would make sense it the battery though as after the service it take 1 more sec to start-up. is there anyway i can check the battery etc myself?

unfortunately not, you can take it to any kmart auto repairs and they would have a battery tester there.

Hmmm how come i never got this problem, and mines an 03.
windows work fine.
but i do know of a friend that got her mazda 3 smashed during the hail storm last year here in perth.
they apparently unplugged the doors to fix all the body panels and when she got it back the windows all went faulty up was down, down was up all that type of stuff.
any chance ur doors been unplugged?
either way they just did an ECU reset

This happened to me too, it just means the glass is getting binded on the way up, causing the motor to automatically reverse. Nothing silicone spray couldnt fix.

If you reset your ECU, you just need to reprogram the Auto function for the window.

ok, open the door, and pull the connector to your windows switches out. i'm pretty sure that that will reset the ECU's window stop position, and it will stop doing auto altogether. This is good. after about a a dozen full up and downs, auto should work again.
I've had this reset a few times in my car, (admitedly, the last time was due to it sitting there without a battery in them for an extended period), but i'm sure it did it to me when i fited my stereo. freaked me out, thought i'd broken it.
i'm not sure if this is held in the switch, or in the ECU. Also, the spring in it is a bit weak. i've "flicked" switch on the odd occasion, and it's registered that i've hit down again, and wound up for a bit, then went back down. took me a little bit to work out what was going on there.
Also there WAS a recall on the jazz in in 2010 were if one leaves the window down, and it rains, water can get into the switch, causing problems, (as per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Fit) i wonder if that's the issue, the switch is actually faulty, due to water damage.... but you'd think that honda would have picked that one yeah?

.... and when i say, "open the door" i mean, pull the door skin off

that water issue sounds like mine. i sometimes drive with the window open in the rain to demist the windscreen. but open as is about 3cm and rain is rly spray. but because the upper window frame (which i wipe with my hand to get excess water off) still has some water on it, it occasionally drips onto the window console. i've been thinking of getting mugen visors (gone down a bit at jdmconcept) but can't justify the price just because of a few drops of water.
and taking off the door trim is really hard on mine, i think the previous owner glue the left ones on coz he busted a clip.

bugger. get a knife, cut the glue. mind you, the clips are probably REALLY expensive. we had to buy a bunch for the bosses "new" hiace van, and they were like $5 each, and i'm sure the Honda ones will be worse...

I got the same problem. But my one is 07 model. I think is the rubber grip too much , then end up like this.. Because at the begging it goes like slow speed.
mine just decided to not be automatic anymore and now i gotta hold the button/switch thing.

Bring the window all the way down and bring it back up, and keep hold the trigger up for like 5 seconds.
Try using Auto down again, it should work now

Got a safety recall letter from Honda in relation to the drivers side window switch this week ( GD ). They said silicon sprays etc could work their way into the switch, causing short circuit/fire.
Anyone else got one yet. ?

I got the recall letter as well. The same reason after silicon spray. Hopefully when they replace the switch it could have gone. Lets see. I am taking it to dealer next week.

This recalls been out for around a month now. We've been doing about 10 a day at my work.
Book in ASAP because the waits are long at some dealers at the moment..

You wont get it unless you bought the car from a dealer.
Just check the government recall website, its all there.

there was mention of that recall in the wiki link that i posted earlier.
i've had mine back for the "bit of wire in dash = too small" recall. if too much power get's pull throu it, it melts insulation and makes fires. Good work.
MIND you the service team all wet themselves when i dropped the car it... :)

Got the car back from the switch change. I told them about the window rolling half the way and then coming down.
The mechanic basically sprayed Silicon on the path of where the glass runs. Since then i didnt see any issue so far. I might wait for some more time before this reoccurs.

Yep, my 07 VTi had the switch replaced last week under warranty. 20 min job, drive in, get a free Nespresso from the dealer, drive out.
Thx bai
If the battery in mine is ever disconnected it causes the drivers side window switch to malfunction. Simply hold it down for 4 seconds, then up for 4 seconds, bingo problem solved.
