Hi guys,
I've got a d16a turbo.

anyways been running sweet since i bought it... 1yr+ with no problems.
I was driving home on thursday and the upper radiator hose burst- i pulled over and got it towed home.

Next day, i flushed coolant and replaced upper radiator hose.
Now i started the car and the needle goes 3/4 on the temp gauge.

So i thought i didn't bleed the valve, so i did it again and still the same problem. I then noticed the radiator fan wasn't kicking in after i'd let the EG idle.

I thought it was the fan, but when i wire it up str8 to the battery it still works. So waited til the car cool'd and started it again and notice the upper pipe was HOT and lower pipe was cold.
(This could cause the fan not to kickin?)
So i figured the radiator was blocked?? and ripped it out took it to radiator specialist.
They said they couldnt' work on aluminium cuz its welded shut- so we pressure flushed it with water.
Seem to flow fine they said.

I then replaced the thermostat and still doesn't help.

I'm out of ideas... so any help will be appreciated.

so the engine didn't overheat the first time? you say "Now i started the car and the needle goes 3/4 on the temp gauge" so you started the car and straight away, it shot to 3/4?

Thermostat takes a little while idling to open and allow the hot water to flow into the radiator.
Starting with the easy/electrical stuff now-
The thermofan circiut components consists of a 15a fuse under the bonnet, 7.5a fuse under the dash, radiator fan relay and a coolant temp switch on the head.
Check all function and report back.

possible faulty gauge, thermofan switch, relay, fuse. If all are good, possible head gasket.

nah, i was letting my car idle to see if it was okay- usually it hits not even 1/2 way on the temp gauge but it went to 1/2 then kept creepin' to 3/4 til i shut it off.

Yeah fan isn't kicking in.. i'm just waiting on the part for the thermo switch and i'll try that.
i've tested the fuses and relay- all seem to be working.

dang hope the gasket isn't gone- was a refreshen motor supposingly...
i don't get why the bottom hose isn't HOT as well...?

sounds like a blockage, may have become blocked with the hose broke.

Also if fan isn't working try replacing the thermo fan switch.
Go with a mugen or something with a lower temp turn on

FIXED.. took me awhile but thanks guys!
i took out the thermostat and there was flow in the bottom hose but still no fan, meaning my radiator isn't blocked.
Funnily enough i put in an aftermarket thermostat and there was no flow again- then tried genuine honda and it worked.

Since the thermostat was right next to the thermo fan switch, i'd figured it might be the problem as well- so i changed that.

ALL WORKING :D !!! so thnx for tellin me bout the thermo fan switch
