Hey there all

i got a concern that is on my mind.
i got a dc5r not too long ago...
its got a few things done to it
like ur standard mods
headers exhuast filter etc

it drives fine and all...
goes into gears fine
runs fine, the only thing is when i let go of the throttle
when the car is in gear, to let the car roll to a stop or slowin down
i hear some sort of noise that comes from the gear box i think
the noise is some sort of grindin noise...

what should i do and how should i go abt it.

ppl reckon that i should change gear box oil and at the same time
check for metal bits and use thicker oil?

has anyone come across this problem?

Your friends are right, change the oil for OEM fluids, and check the oil for any shavings.

So the noise is only present when you are engine braking?

As for mods, have you got a lightweight fly wheel by any chance??

could be the clutch n flywheel combo u have which makes the noise.

Change the gearbox fluid as above anyways.

i think the previous owner said something abt puttin in an excedy light weight fly wheel and an organic clutch?
would this be any help ?

Confirm with the previous owner if the car has a light wieght flywheel. If it does then the noise when the car is engine braking is normal.

If the car has a stock flywheel... then you might want to get it checked.

ok i got the car serviced today. the gear box oil was drained.
and i saw the oil it looked like glitter in the oil.
new oil was put in and nulon gear box treatment was added..
should that do the trick?

Have you asked the previous owner if it has a light weight fly wheel?

yeh i did, he said its excedy light weigh flywheel
and organic clutch.

the oil change in the gear box is done and nulon treatment was added
first 200kms the noise is startin to fade and sometimes is gone.
but occasionally comes back.

The glitter bits as you know are shavings from the gears... previous owner was just rough on his gear changes and possibly crunched the box a few times.... best way to never shave metal is to always change gear in 2 motions... for example: when going from 3rd to 4th, drop into neutral then keep pulling down to 4th. rather than one straight through movement... in older cars this method is a must others wise they wouldnt always engage. Also the integras are known for having syncro issues so always keep an ear open, usually happens around the lower gears (1st, 2nd & 3rd)... All the best.

When in doubt, Go flat out!
