Hi guys just thought ill share some info with my custom car audio setup in my s2000.
I wanted to make something that was able to show off the amps and sub as well as making room in the boot if I have other things to put in. This was done with cutting a mould of the shape of the boot, and then mounting a vertical stand to hold the 2 amps with the wiring hidden behind the stand.
This has to be one of the hardest DIY ive done, thanks to my friend Mad Mike who helped made the job all crisp and clean so far :D
We had bought all the parts in advance piecing bit by bit, and discussing and planning everything before the big install. Because I didn’t own any power tools, we headed to Bunning’s after work on a Saturday arvo to see wat we can find, the goal was cheaper the better since im asian, hahah XD but serisouly, I don’t have any sort of power tools…sigh
We found lots of thickness of MDF but we chose 16mm to make the box and stand, seemed to be sturdy and not too thin. Cheap jig saw, power drill, wood screws, and L shape brackets were also bought which cost me about $172 for materials and tools.
We began with stripping the CD stacker, then the grey plastic interior coverings to expose the boot well.
The plan is to get dynamat to cover ALL the bottom metal (I still haven’t received the dynamat so this part is on hold :/)
The easiest way to get the shape of the boot is to trace around the plastic covering of the well.
Just trace and jig saw the MDF. This was purely trial and error but it turned out alright. We had to separate the pieces into 3 or it won’t fit in the boot as a whole piece. Making sure to label which side is top.
Cabling wasn’t too hard, but there was a crap lot of cabling undercarpet and through doors, overall pretty good job.
So far the hardest installs was making the twitter mounting on the passenger and driver sides, as we didn’t have the proper tools, we used drills, jig saw, pliers to bend and cut the plastic. Took well over 45min just to make 2 damn holes =.=
Anyways just a few pics with more to come.
