View Full Version : Heat coming from gearbox?

Hey guys ive got a eg civic and under my centre console it gets pretty hot. Is this normal? and if not what is the problem and how can it get fixed?

Heat transfer can be a powerful thing, but also make sure you have your venting set of recirculate not atmosphere.

its coming from your exhaust

is your factory heat shield in there ?

I have no clue i guess ill have to find out. Well water came out of my centre console when i went through a flooded area on that fukd up day 2 sats ago. maybe was moved? i'm not sure what the heat shield iss honestly ill find out.

Heat shield is a metal object that is covering your OEM headers to keep the heat away from other compartments in the engine bay or also to keep your engine bay bit cooler.
lol.

Just look at ur headers, do they look like "those ebay headers where u can see em" or "is that a cover on it?"

Nah i got a metal cover on my headers LOL just a bit cracked been there since ive had it.

i dont think a crack can make a big difference of heat coming thru the interior lol

is it only on short or long distance drives?
cause it is normal on long drives, i can feel the heat radiate through the console and the shift lever as well.

theres a heat shield under the car where the shifter rods are for the actual exhaust
check if your shifter rod's rubber boot seal is there
