Hi, i have a 4th Gen Lude and a HID kit that i purchased of ebay (8000K (Kelvin)) and i believe what i purchased them for is quite a good dea (you cant go wrong for $335inc shipping).
Link to the same set as mine: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36607&item=4510507673&rd=1

The set i got was H4 Low with some crappy blue light that i have removed becuase it would not scatter light correctly. So i will be using H4 low and H1 normal globe for High.

Here is a comparisson between some 110/130 normal globes and HID

As you can see in the picture, there is no blue globe and there is too much light for the camera to handle

Numerous people say this brand is crap, but i dont know why.. Maybe becuase they want to sell a more expensive brands. As you can see these are very good lights and for the price its a good deal. After i pay off my debts i will investigate further into HID and purchase the more expensive brands and see which are better but for now they are very good.

the H4 is not easy to install, some times u need to rewire it and it may also need a diode to relay it. Not recommand DIY for H4.

China, the land of where copys of everything are made.
When I went there for holiday I even saw copy Benz, Daihatsu, Suzuki, Mitsubishi and even the current CRV's as ones sold by Honda lol.
u name it they can copy it. :D

Hella, Made in Germany, used by Benz, BMW, Porsche, VW etc
Philips, OSRAM, aftermarket usually.

Mitsubishi electric, Stanley, Made in Japan, used in Honda
Denso electric, Made in Japan, used in Toyota
IPF, PIAA, Matsushita, RAYBRIG, BJ Union, 88house etc aftermarket usually.

Xelux, Alpha, Brightstar, NARVA, etc etc list goes on, Made in Taiwan.

China too many too mention.

Usually the bulbs are made in Japan or germany.
while ppl manufacture the ballast and ignitors
Is usually the ballast and ignitor that stuffs up.
long operating hours could kill the ballast in low quality models, same goes with the ignitor where it requires 23kV to start the HID up.

If the HID company manufacture for a large OEM car company.
and come with a CE mark, ISO 9001 etc etc . Thats usually are good sign the product is good and less chance of faulty, on the other hand ppl in china and taiwan can use stickers.

Hope this info helps some ppl.

Hey there,

this is just my 2 cents worth, so please don't flame me :D

If you want to purchase high quality bulbs/hid's, go for Korea!

Why? Because if you go for the Japanese Re-Branded stuff, you will pay through the roof ;)

Yep, you heard that correctly - Re-Branded. The Japanese do not make the bulbs/hid's, the Koreans do. PIAA - Made in Korea, not Japan. I know because our bulbs come from the same factory ;)

The HID's that we sell are Japanese branded, but the bulbs and ballasts are made in Korea, or can supply them with Hella (German) ballasts instead. These are the #1 kit on the market today - AUTOBACS Megatec HID Kit, Made in Korea, Marketed through Japan ;)

If there is one good thing the Japanese are good at, its heavily marketing the "Made In Japan" brand name :D

No flames ;)
90% of the kits on the market are repack anyway.
as all the cerificate number are the same.
There are only a few that manufacture them in Japan, Mitsubishi Elec, Matsushita, koito etc. PIAA I am not sure never investigated them
but most big and major lighting manfacture do everything in-house.

Well MTEC is made in Japan but manufactured in Taiwan, so go figure.:D
