Just about to purchase exedy clutch and fidanza light fly wheel. Are these interchangeable among b16/b18/b20?

they are but the part numbers are different for the pressure plates.
I was told by a dealer it was prob due to the position of the pedal, not 100% sure but i had a friend who used the b18 in a b16 and it was fine

clamp load can be adjusted at clutch workshops mate.
Goodwork the exedy clutch + fidanza fly is a excellent combo.

i had massive problems with mine. i bought a fidanza flywheel which caused massive headaches... basically the flywheel you are replacing either has a step or no step
i fitted a SECO (made by Exedy) clutch with Fidanza aluminium flywheel and it would not engage gears... reason being that there was a step on the fidanza flywheel and my oem flywheel didnt... and because the fidanza aluminium flywheel is already so light, there was a danger of machining down the step.
i ended up having to pay for labour again, machining the OEM flywheel and had to sell off the Fidanza flywheel.
oh yea, mine was for a dc2... not sure if its the same for EM1s or not... prolly someone else would be able to confirm this for ya

keep us updated kraiye.
I've got a stepped flywheel(spoon) and an exedy clutch on the wish list, hopefully i wont have the same problem as the poster above.

thanks johnny, very interesting info. sounds like you took one for the team ;)
i believe the b16's and b18's are pretty much interchangeable. a few people have said the exedy sports organic/stage 1 clutch (same thing... i think) and fidanza al fly is a good combo. i'm assuming this means it's been done successfully before - fingers crossed.
initially i didn't want such a light flywheel, was after more like a 10 or 12 pounder but... f*** it! lol.
will let ya'll know how it goes
type r gearboxes and dc2 run diffrent clutches
when i got my spoon clutch and lightend flywheel installed into my dc2 they wouldnt fit into the standerd box but slided in like a glove to the type r one so be carefull make sure you order the right clutch for the right gearbox...ohhh and btw nathing but positives from me ona lightend flywheel

one more question :)
does the b20 use the same size clutch and fly as the b16? i'll be looking at b20vtec down the track a bit.

it should cos your bolting it to a b16/b18 box.
I can find out cos my friend used a excedy sports organic in his b20

hahaha it was an expensive lesson learnt... but hey at least now i know rite? also make sure that you've got the right thrust/release bearing... the clutch supplier gave me the wrong part and I had to drive all the way to the main Exedy supplier to get the right one. it was a bitch of a day i can promise u that lol...
@CB7_owner: dude... ur stepped spoon flywheel should be ok as long as your oem flywheel as a step as well...
good luck!

^looking at some pictures.. looks like most aftermarket flywheels for the b series are stepped anyways?

lol yea... I noticed that too... however note the disclaimer that says "parts may not look exactly the same"

all the B series flywheels are the same except for weight.
I run an ITR flywheel in my b16, run a b18c2 gearbox with a b18c7 LSD
They all fit together
be aware that a lot of ebay clutches from the u.s are fake.

Can anyone who has bought a clutch/flywheel combo thru Ebay from the US and verified that its an orignal part, let us know what clutch kit abd what e-bay store you got it from. If we can build up a list of e-bay stores that sell the original equipment then it might save people from getting ripped off. Thanks in advance. Looking to get one soon for a B16

I have yet to prove that its genuine though.. But all things lead to it is.. there is exedy badging on the pressure plate and clutch plate itself.
