Im interested in buying a integra vtir as a run around.
Now is it any good on fuel? Ive looked up redbook but i want opinions on people that have the actual car.
Anyone give guidance on amount of kms it pulls out until fuel light comes on. Driving habits etc. Year of car and how many kms it has.
Im just wondering if its not going to be much difference between this and normal d16y civic... im definately going to go for the integra vtir
thanks in advance

I'm at around 7.5l/100km but I'm running rich.. And that's driving pretty conservatively, with a squirt here and there

My 98' vti-r (139xxxkms, catback & CAI) gets around 350-400km a tank. I havent had the car long and i do enjoy giving it a squirt here and there like 'tRipitaka' posted above. Overall not too bad, just depends on how often you wana keep 'hitting vtec' :)

I thought they might get a bit better than that.
My rex used to get 450+ out of a tank and itd cost 55 bucks to fill up

Costs me $50 after the light comes on to fill up with Shell V Power. Just remember you're buying a car that uses premium petrol!
I get around 450km/h in my 1994 147,000km VTi-R. Bone stock except SRI. But my drive everyday is wierd - Parramatta to Hurstville. There is 40 min in the morning, takes me a good hour and ten to get back. Traffic is awful coming back so lots of start stop madness.
Pretty conservative driver though, normal changes are around 2,700 rpm, overtaking at approx. 4200rpm per change. Almost never drive it hard. VTEC sounds cool but I never get there. I know, I'm boring. I've only had it since late December though!

Turbo dc2.
600kms to a tank if its nothing but highway. Its limited start stop.
270kms if everyday driving with a heavy foot.
Though. It has lower compression pistons. Less air = Less fuel.

Stock DC2 - averaged 10L/100kms - so 500kms a tank.
DC2 w/ JDM B18C (R) / ITB's - average 8L/100kms - so 625kms a tank.

iv;e got both ek d16 motor and dc2 b18
Ek= normal driving + 98 vpower = 400kms = $45
Dc2= normal driving + 98 vpower + giving it a hit here and there = $50 -$55

My self depending on what I put in it
Around Town:
450 km running on 98
350 km running on 95
Highway:
600 km running on 98
400 km running on 95
I hit VTEC everynow and again, when i first got it, I did hit VTEC all the time, ran 98 all the time, so I don't know about 95 but take 100 km off how long it lasted. It is serviced regulaly and I use 5w-30 oil

Just fill it up when its empty, and add some of the fuel saver stuff they say it works, but fark its like $25... thats half tank money:p

i have a 95 integra 230,000km.
i fill it up with 98 octane and get around 8L/100km on average,
aka 600km a tank, i dont know why everyone else gets such bad economy
- thats running around town avg trip is 8-15km.
has a non standard intake / exhaust system if it makes that much of a diffrence/

I don't recommend it, but I've tried it before. The fuel gauge needle does drop below the E mark and right off the bottom of the gauge scale if you go long enough even after the fuel warning light comes on.

iv never done that! im not that stingy, just fill the bugger up!
i get around 500-550 when the fuel light comes on, which has only really happened a few times.
but its pretty simple maths, and i reset my odometer when i fill up petrol =)
On average it costs me just over or under $10 / 100km. (around 8L/100km which is 600+ km a tank)
You guys were saying around 300km a tank... well,
13L/100 = 380km = RX8 fuel consumption (thing chews fuel) , or a Ferrari 458
My results
10L/100 = 500km } Driving the car hard = New Ford/Holden/911 Standard combined fuel rating (just to give you a comparison)
9L/100 = 555km } Driving spiritedly = New Toyota Camry Standard combined fuel rating
8.7L/100 = 575km } Honda's combined fuel rating for the integra.
8L/ 100 = 625km } Normal Driving --> Pretty good for a 10-15 year old car.
7.5L/ 100 = 670km } Driving conservatively --> Nissan pulsar Standard combined fuel rating
Calculations done for total km's per tank are only for the integra's 50L tank.

well my 350km a tank is only based on me filling it up once i got almost to the E. so that could still have about 15L left? maybe less.
from full to Empty i average 350km a tank.
my car is boosted makes 180kw atw.

If you are looking to buy a DC2 runabout (a bone stocker), expect anything from 7.5-10L per 100Km. Anything more means that you are hitting 6000rpm+ very regularly. 98 is what u should be putting into it.
As long as the car is regularly serviced and everything is in good mechanical order thats the numbers you are looking at.

Thats pretty decent. I imagine that you didn't drive in much traffic to get that result.
I fuelled up today and I got 10.67L/100km. Probably the worst result my B16a has ever had. All inner city/suburbia driving with a fair bit of VTEC included.
B18c2 doesnt seem to chew more than a b16a. I guess you don't have to thrash it as much to get some performance which evens the consumption figures out.

I get waaay too much traffic, 6.30am in the morning theres traffic on the M1. Then I finsh uni at like 2.30 and theres even more traffic on the M1.
I don't vtec all the time though, maybe around 4times since lastweek wednesday.
If I do a full service next week and actually fill it up to 50L's of 98 octane w/ some fuel additives, I hope I get 700km +... I'll give it a shot and let you guys know.

That's really weird because i've driven it quite a few times when the fuel light comes on and then some and only ever get to fill up 38/39 litres. To say there was still 11 litres in reserve is quite a lot?!
I average 10L/100k and that's mainly suburb driving changing at 3rpm
davidrobe10

Yes because the fuel light comes on when you have 10L left in the tank (around 100km )
However its never exactly 10L its more or less depending on the slope the car is on ect which is why it blinks on and off alot!
The fuel pump gives you a more accurate reading, however they too vary, because i noticed at diffrent fuel pumps my car wont fill up all the way for some reason (i.e i turn on the car and it doesnt go past the Full bit)
ps, i hate the m1 at 8:30 going to uni. and after finishing 5:30 classes =(

ive got a 1996 vti-r teggy with 140k's on the clock.
My fuel gauge is completely unreliable. When sitting on empty it only takes 30L's to take it to full/overflowing.
Ive never let the fuel light come on for fear of just running it dry.
As for economy im getting around 8.4L/100km mark with CAI, 2.5 inch 4-1 headers, high-flow cat and BC pro spec. Thats with a suspected dodgy O2 sensor,
because i seem to be running pretty rich. Also run it on 95 at BP (they dont have 98 :S)
I drive an hour to and from newcastle, and my teg generally see's the redline atleast once each time i get in it.
Its been serviced religiously by the previous owners and myself though, (being owned by a 65 year old lady from new until i came along, haha) so i guess it all comes down to maintenance
rather than being lead-footed.

Perhaps you should step back and take a look. The reason your car survived reasonably intact to this day is because the first owner/s didn't 'thrash' it daily.
a gud service schedule goes along way..

Gday mate,
Just thought i'd chime in on this one. I have a 98' vtir in very good nick with full history. First tank I put through it last week I was VERY heavy in the foot as I took it out over some hilly roads and things every night. From 37litres I got 340kms.
Next tank was used for a big trip with a mate yesterday. The majority was highway cruising at 100-110 which is obviously good for economy. But there were also a few heavy footed moments showing my mate how it goes - highway entry ramps and the like. I have yet to fill the tank so I don't know exactly what the consumption will look like but I have JUST hit the fuel light and I've done 545kms. I'm guessing I've used about 41 litres or so?
They're heavy on fuel while you're right up them. I used to have an ed9 crx and it didn't matter how you drove it, it just barely used fuel. This car isn't the same like that. If you are revving between 6-8 all the time it will use a decent bit of fuel. However, you'd expect it to use some in those revs. I'm really happy with it though as driven normally and on the highway it's extremely frugal still. You just have to be able to control yourself. : )

ended up settling for a gsi because its ten times cheaper.
When i just bought it, it was running cold because thermostat was failing open and not getting up to normal tempts. only got 450 outta tank.
Now i manage to get 540-600kms + on tank (some thrashing, normal driving, changing gears at 4k, Some trips full car)
Good service really works a charm!

best way is to fill up the tank full. drive 200km on the tank and fill up at the same petrol station. then observe how many litres went in. eg.. 20litres go in.. divide it by 2 and u would get 10litres per 100
i get around 320km out of my tank as the empty light comes on thats with a dead throttle position sensor(tps) and couple vtec hits a day to lol.
im sure i can manage better if i fix the tps and get time to put a thermostat in.
