To be on the safe side... leavign the stock exhaust is always your answer

Depends on police too

when i had a dc2r, i had a BC exhaust, never had trouble with the police at all (drove for work.. so average 1000kms per week) and the reason behind that is because i dont drive hard at all on the streets. I even had my car completely stripped (had only driver seat) for WSID and with the WSID numbers on my car :p... still no troubles

If you are going to be worried everytime a cop drives past then keep your stock exhaust to give you peace of mind

One other thing to.

Got a P-plate?
If the answer is yes. Youve got a bulls-eye target around your car.

People that get pulled over all the time normally get pulled over for a reason. Be it that they drive around like an Idiot, or there number plates are black listed (Normally because of driving around like an idiot), so the cops pull you over all the time (They black list cars in QLD... not sure about other states).

But I'm guessing by your other threads "What's the loudest intake for a DC5R" you are going to drive around like and idiot.

Wow... you're 26... going by how you type, and the threads you've made I seriously though you were like 19... MAX.

Dude, a bit of advice when it comes to forums, if you type correctly most people are going to take your posts a little more seriously, and you'll get some decent input into your question.

You seem like you are fairly new to the DC5R game, so if you are going to ask lots of questions it'll pay to spend the extra 2 minutes to construct a sentence properly and spell it all correctly.

But back on topic, if you are a mature driver you'll be fine.

I'm a p'plater and when i bought my dc5 it cam with a cannon exhaust and it didnt pass RW and it got taken off and a stock one was put on. after getting the RW i went to another shop an put it back on and I've been driving around with it for almost a year now no hassle, but like mention above it all really depends on the cop if their picky or not. hope this helps

If you're gonna get pulled over or harassed by cops on the road, driving next to you:

1. Poor driving ability.
2. Speeding
3. Modified Car.

There is no such thing as RBT nowadays, its just an excuse to pull you over.

I had my car pulled over 2 years ago for an 'RBT' and never got breath tested instead
got slapped with a defect notice + yellow canary.

If you don't want hassle from the cops.

Don't modify your car in a way that its going get attention.
Attention is good, but it also attracts the wrong crowd (cops).

Or don't drive it.

I used to run a loud exhaust until i got pulled over by a highway patrol and told to follow them.. I was taken to a epa inspection station at kings cross where all other modified cars were being inspected by epa. They inspected the whole car for defects, they hooked up a microphone behind my exhaust and reved the engine at about 5000rpm. My exhaust sound was 110db, 20db over legal limit. I was then slapped with a $500 fine and told to remove my exhaust system, cai and have the car inspected again by one of five workshops in Nsw. If i did not comply it would effect vehicle registration/licence. So after this experience i dont think its worth having a loud exhaust.

5000rpm? I hope not.
They're supposed to do it at 2500 or 3000 tops.

I have a dB meter at home, my Accord (before it was boosted) rocked 94dB at 2500rpm (Almost legal) and 114 dB at 7000rpm.
My Dad's 2010 stock Territory made 108dB at 6000rpm.

If the test is done incorrectly it can be very bad for your wallet.
But they're probably all corrupt and hate everyone so screw them lol.

Im 100% sure for a 4 cylinder engine the epa does the test at around 5000rpm, for 6 and 8 cylinder cars they test at a lower rpm.

But theres a fine line between getting away with shit, and stupidity that draws even more attention.

I got nothing against the cops personally.

They're just doing their job. You modify at your own risk. Part of the parcel boys, get used to it.

they don't deserve it,

Agreed, as much as i don't like the attention my cars get from the police, i always think

1) they are a human being treat em with respect and they will respect you back

2) When sh!t hits the fan, they are there to help you and everyone else

By the way, guys... THIS THREAD WAS OVER IN 2010, AND WAS RESURRECTED BY A MORON.

Well Metro cops iv had little experience with since i live in a town of 10k people and around 30 different cops. where if they people you up and you are polite they dont normally screw you over.

21yo Sudanese guy waiting with his friend at the station for a train to the city.

Cop: It's time for you to get out of here. We don't want you people hanging around here.
Guy: I am getting out of here... I'm waiting for a train.
Cop: Are you two in a gang?
etc.

Paraphrased, of course, but that's my most recent example of cops abusing their positions in order to **** people around.

That was an individual, you can't generalise about a whole group of people from one person.

I have had had many more pleasant experiences than unpleasant regarding police.

Everyone is a human, if you can understand the basics of how the human mind works and emotion, you can use situations to your advantage.

Your last sentence is just... incomprehensible, irrelevant babble.
