car is the one in my sig ...

i just put the Ultra Racing 2pt lower bar on and its rattling to hell at all different RPMs

anyone got an idea one some sort of material i can put in there to stop the rattling?

is there a high temp rubber i can glue onto the lower bar or something?

you can try header wrap on the actual header.. or some sorta thermal wrap on the lower bar.. or some even wrap on both things..

Put washers under (or on top) of the lower bar. Probably only need 2 each side.

Itll give you less ground clearance. But better header to bar clearance. That is. If I have the right bar in my mind as the one youre describing.

you can use exhaust glue to space it. RVT make it, about $10 for a small tube from supercheap

yeah i was thinking of something in a tube maybe i can just squeeze about 2cm/3 in between them

my mate suggested header wrap ... but i have nfi where i would get that here

putting washers on the bar will only extended it towards the front of the car ... it looks like this one

Can't use washers as the bar is connected via the LCA bolts facing forward. Nothing will
temp fix this , any coating/heaterap etc will just wear
out again if you have contact. Look at either replacing or modifying your header secondries design or remove the bar

im going to use heatwrap on both of them and tighten up the header better

if i have to replace it in the future thats no big deal, as long as it stops rattling, im going to try pulling the exhaust hangers up closer to the car as well ... i only need 1cm or so

might see if my mechanic can do anything when he builds me an exhaust as well ... but im still open for suggestions

I see . Disregard my suggestion. I didnt have a clear picture of how it sits in my head.

now do i wait for header wrap to arrive or do i use a tube product ... hrmmm

the rattling doesnt seem to be as bad now either ... wierd

If it's hitting the headers a new exhaust wont work...

If that's the case then benny is right but if its hitting the exhaust,U might be able to fix it.

But I think you'll find it's the same as the pic.

its only like 3-5mm gap between them ... it doesnt rattle all the time - i think tightening the bolts up helped some what

i will try the header wrap when it arrives ... failing that i will try some gasket in a tube and failing that i might take the bar off and sell it =/

provides awsome handling but the rattle sounds terrible for daily use

How about the H brace (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126496) hopefully it will clear it...

doesnt look that much different to me =/

It definately feels it though, upgrading from the 2 point brace but my car is a sedan and I feel it will make more of a difference on the sedan.

yeah im in a sedan as well

ill see how i go when the floor brace arrives =)

Ah,sorry mate,I thought U were..

U can see in these pics (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126496) how the last owner had a bit of metal angle grinded out to fit.It obviously was hitting the headers.

dont really want to do that lol ... both destroying the structural integrity of the bar and devaluing it

beeza

I would say that I wouldn't either but it has not 'destroyed the structural integrity of the bar' though,no way.And who cares abot losing $10 on it when ya sell it lol

Therefore it's a real option if U can see it working.Or just sell it!

pretty sure these bars are hollow tho ... if i put a grinder on it - it will just cut into it ... not make a notch

beeza

Yeah it's hollow.U can see in the pics how someone has just taken a section off it,enough to make room but not enough to weaken it,that's the trick, not hard though,as long as it will work,U can see how my headers angle, that's how his must have, because if mine were sitting a bit lower,I would have had to do that but the x-force headers sit a lil higher,so that's good:

By him making the cut,he was able to run the bar.

by doing this , you ruin any benefit of said bar. it will lose its structural rigidity and make it worthless.
But....like most "mods" these are only really for visual value anyway...so go right ahead !

haha,sure benny!! :)

i did notice a difference with this bar ... the upper strut braces made the car corner alot flatter but this made it corner harder and sharper ... on the downside it has increased the body roll slightly because of my stock springs

Hey,nice 'in tune' with ya car! :)

TheSaint

yeah i spend alot of time concentrating on all its little strengths and weaknesses when im driving ... it can be as hard as reviewing a pipe tobacco or trying to describe a new flavor ... u need to really concentrate and control ur mind - i love it ... im a real car nut lol

i put the heat wrap on 2day ... dont get that stuff on ur skin lol

it has stopped the header issue but i have realised there is also a rattle between my power steering piping and the engine torque damper - i have put some gasket in a tube in between them so ill test it 2moro ... might not be able to avoid this one
