how many km's on the speedo?

if low km's then honda oil is fine, nice and cheap too.

if you have high km's then try something slightly thicker if your burning oil.
I always used fully synth motul 8100 x-cess 5w40.

and always use genuine honda oil filters.

Sweet thanks, its done just above 100,000kms but i personally myself have done abit more than 10k kms after buying it. Vtec-ing the car everyday for like months the oil is black and you can hear oil drips after turning the car off. Very concerned i think its time for a service.

Yeah dude it sounds like you need a service.

But I use Castrol EDGE Sport 5W-30 and never had a problem. Every time i check the oil, it's always clear, never black.

if you have done 100 000k + go for something thicker. use something like 10w-40 (winter coming?) or 15w-50.

No, that is bad advice. You don't know how much the engine has worn. If there are no problems, now, he should stick to as close as possible to the original viscosity.

Also, I think you go thicker when it's hot? Not cold?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

Yeh engine condition dictates this. My VTi-R has 147xxxkm on it and is running Castrol Edge 5W-30 and doesn't burn any oil. It runs well and same with mlc, my oil always comes back out clean.

Good luck!

That's not always a good thing you know. If the oil doesn't turn black it means its not doing its job.

I use Edge as well and it gets quite black after 6000kms or so meaning its doing its job at lubricating and "cleaning" the engine.

It's 5W-30 is bang for your bucks, 5L for around $35 when its on sale for a fully synthetic oil.

Some cars run rich, some cars run leaner. Those that run rich will have carbon deposits, which the engine oil will help clean off. That's why in some cars the oil turns black quickly and others more slowly.

You mean 0w-40? Yeah, it's the bomb. Better than the Edge 5w-30.
