alpine cda-9886 & ipod issues

hey all

well my problem is when i connect my ipod to the sterio stated in the title, it comes up saying error

has anyone else experienced this and if so what can i do to rectify this, the only reason i bought the ipod was so i could use it in my car with this sterio and im quite annoyed that it isn't working

Try resetting your IPOD as they will freeze all the time But once it has reset it should be fine & you wont lose your music either.

how do you reset them? sorry im an ipod newb lol, i thought it would have worked cause i only just bought it put some music on and nothing

did your alpine headunit originally have an ipod input or was did you add the connection yourself?

Depends on the IPOD But most of them if you HOLD the Menu & Scroll wheel until the unit turns BLACK then it should come up with the APPLE symbol.
The easiest way will be to have a look on the APPLE site under IPOD/troubles.

nick, the head unit comes with a usb input already and i assumed that it would work thru that

anyway i think ive found the problem, if you have a look at this webesite (http://www.crutchfield.ca/Alpine_CDA_9886_CD_Receiver_CD_Receiver_p/500CDA9886.htm) it says the cd player is meant to come with an ipod control cable, mine never came with one which is probly why mine doesn't work, KCE-422i iPod control cable is the name of the cable, if anyone can direct me somewhere i could buy one that would be great

If you are using the USB it wont read the IPOD, You will need the KCE-422I Which most alpine dealers should have. ( i have about 10 in stock in my shop where i work in Canberra)

I had the same problem. I had to put my ipod touch in b4 i start up the car.
