The steering column up down adjustment failed in my 2000 Legend such that the wheel was now resting on my knee, i was facing a bill for a new steering column assemble til i found this:

I managed to place it in a middle position and the telescopic function still works.
Hope this will assist someone in the future.
PS how about a point so I can sell a few civic bits, cheap I promise. :)
