Haha, yeah. 5 years is great from one battery. I'd get the same one again!

I wish I could but it's a JDM one( with Jap wirtings on it), It came with the car when it was imported.
Im looking for something that's good quality, good design and compact.
where did you buy yours? (eg. supercheap, autobarn, peps?)

Is yours a Yuasa battery?
Autobarn in Auburn sells the Supercharge Gold. Those are good too.

I run an oem (well new oem stamped diaken as a jdm one will set you back 800 due to sheer weight alone) one as the last oem one lasted over 7yrs... it's not uncommon for them to last that long

Yes 2 year warranty. I have one in my DC2.
Except that the Useless Century batteries product finer brochure in the store and online is bloody wrong. DC2 Integra needs a N60S, NOT a N60LS.
N60LS has its terminals reversed and you'll need to really pull the terminal wires to the max to reach the posts. I had to go back and swap my battery at the store and told them that their product guide was crap.

Try these blokes (or one closer to you):
Battery World Tempe
809 Princes Highway, Tempe, NSW 2044
p: (02) 9558 0334 f: (02) 9559 6911
My mate bought a Supercharge battery from them and the price was reasonable (from memory). They can replace and dispose of your old battery FoC as well.

actually I needed those reverse type for my EF CRX, but the century batteries +'ve terminal is too close to the intake pipe (dont want my engine bay to blow up)
...so I'm looking at something similar to my old battery.

thanks for the heads up, will call them on monday!
I still am looking for best battery for an ED/EF crx
I want something that last long and looks good... something nice to look at everytime I open the bonnet.
So far I realised some design flaws with the century battery as the +'ve terminals are too close to the intake pipe. Here's one in my ef7

My old battery's +''ve terminals in the EF8 is placed away from the intake pipe.

This is the exact same problem with my DC2. The Century catalog specifies a N60LS for the DC2. It ended up looking exactly like your 'flawed design battery'.
In your case, you need to have the battery turned around with the terminals nearer the engine than the airbox. But if you do that, you end up having to crisscross the + and - terminal wires, and if you do that they won't be long enough to reach the terminals anyway. You follow?
So if you're still looking at a Century battery, get the same one but with the + and - posts reversed. So you can mount the battery with the posts nearer the engine, + post at the back and - post at the front. The Century sticker on the battery should face the engine.
For the DC2 the wrong but recommended model battery N60LS. The correct one, but not written in the catalog, ended up being the N60S. The only difference between the two is that the + and - posts were swapped around. A minor thing, but makes all the difference.

Go to your auto elec. They can probably do you a good deal if you haggle a bit.
Otherwise you could go for something like this haha: http://jdmconcept.com.au/index.php?option=com_jdm&p=detail&vid=33&cid=70

Scroll down to the bottom of this (http://www.centurybatteries.com.au/data/portal/00005053/content/77014001269838006083.pdf) pdf. It shows you the different polarity styles of automotive batteries.

Honda does not have am OEM battery though. It depends on the dealer. The most common one that I've seen Honda dealers use is AC Delco

the honda 'ac delco' unit has been the most reliable and durable daily battery i have seen around in a long time for its price bracket
i wasnt aware that honda had units made by other companys tho - maybe not all the OEM units are that great after all =/

Heh - you'd be surprised how many people think Honda distills their own oil :D
I've heard that parts suppliers shift around a bit, oil filters and air filters, AC compressors during the same run are the obvious but it depends on the smaller companies that supply the parts on a cost basis. I read an interesting article years ago about the relationship between the big Japanese car companies and the smaller component producers - loyalty doesn't exist and (as always, the $ means everything).

The battery that comes on the car from the factory in Japan is definitely not an AC Delco. The one that I had in my from new was a GS Yuasa if I remember correctly. But when I went to get a replacement battery from the Honda dealer, they used standard AC Delco batteries but with a Honda sticker stuck on to the side. I believe that Honda Australia sources from AC Delco (which ends up as the battery that they sell as a replacement), but Honda Japan sources from Yuasa (which goes into the car when it is assembled at the factory).
The AC Delco unit is one of the best batteries I've used. Century was the worst! Leaked acid fumes into the engine bay of our 2nd car. Currently using a Delkor battery and it is fine except that the battery post was a little too fat for my after market negative battery connector. The stock positive terminal fitted fine, so it was more of a problem with my negative connector.

yeah my neighbors EG5 has a repco battery and it has leaked acid fumes up onto the bonnet and made a big rust bubble =/
those AC Delco units are good =)

Century Yuasa is the Australian arm of GS Yuasa ;) Maybe you're comparing a maintenance free battery to an average heavy duty battery?

They were both branded differently though. The GS Yuasa battery (sealed maintenance free) that came with the car from the factory worked fine. No leaks and the only downside was the low CCA rating. The Century battery was also sealed maintenance free but started leaking the fumes about 2 years after purchasing it. The Yuasa battery had a white casing with a black top, whereas the Century battery was full black in colour. Eventhough they are related companies, the products are different eventhough they are both sealed maintenance batteries.

Yea the century batteries aren't just re-branded. They're made here. You can ask for the GS alternative at Century though. They stock them.
