Hi
today I bought a eg civic with a h22 conversion
on the way home, the speedo stopped working, just the speed dial, the revs and others are fine.
is the engine light coming on due to the speedo not working?
thanks

Perhaps, or both might be because of an ECU fault, or a sensor fault.

Best to get it looked at, unless someone on this forum has a good understanding of ECU's and sensors and can help to eliminate the possibilities.

the engine light shouldnt come up if the speedo isnt working as my mum has the same problem.

just go an take it to a mechanic thats what the engine light means

good luck:)

if the VSS drops out then the engine light will come on

you should be able to check whether its wiring related or whether its the VSS itself with a multimetre. Have a look through pretty much any honda factory service manual and it should be in there. Although I've never seen a prelude FSM, then again I've never looked for one. Something dodgy has probably been done if it just stopped working? who did the swap? the previous owner or a mechanic?

hmmm just because he's done a few doesn't mean he doesn't do dodgy things.

Best bet would be to get a FSM and test the wiring at the VSS plug and the VSS itself as I mentioned above. Pretty easy, basically unplug the VSS on the gearbox and follow directions in the FSM

where in Brisbane are you?

the ground wires were connected to the paint of my car not the bare metal, so i fixed that up, and it seems to be working a lot better, occasionally happens but extremely rarely.
cheers for ur help guys
