Hey guys, just wanted some opinion on ignition leads for a b16A2.

Basically right now i've got 2 options, being either

OEM Honda = 250 large

Top Gun from Autobarn = 50 bucks

Now seriously my engine has not being "worked" and will not tend to go above i/h/e in the near future. Is it at all necessary to go for the OEM? In my mind, i'll consider it necessary if "yes" is answered to the following :D

A. Will I lose power with non-OEM cheapish leads??

B. Will the cheapish ones die in 10,000km or something..??

Thanks in advance guys

I change my to NGK ignition leads, cost me only $100 and made in Japan hehe :D Been on my car for the last 3yrs and from my option they perform just the same as OEM or better. Heres the link for NGK Aus http://www.ngk.com.au/

Top Guns are crap, get Bosch Sports Ignition Leads they cost about the same but conducts alot better electricity.

Nothing beats OEM. IVe read of recent , tests done upon the stock OEM honda leads , and another 1 or two brands ( i cant say which....NGK or ?!?) - and on all accounts the STOCK leads produced more power / more spark etc.

Through all the different leads we've tried on various Japanese cars, there has only been 1 manufacturer that we would recommend - Nology.

You pay for quality though, and is only necessary if you are serious about racing. If not, stick with OEM

NGK Power Cable ignition leads is not good, is only good in high revs and/or high power ignitions eg race apps, MDI etc. My one is just the NGK Plug Cable normal OEM replacement leads (they supply to OEM Japanese car) hence it just feel the same as OEM and cost only $100 so I am happy :D. Considering they are the number 1 spark plug makers, I expect them to make good leads too.
Here is a link to the one I got, u can get it locally.

Anyway there are "BETTER" Ignition leads out there, and alot of new ignitions leads on the market uses low resistant wires and capacitors to increase the current flow. Nology is one but aren't the best as there are others catching up with new products. Spoon and Mugen also makes them, Pivot, Sun, Splitfire etc etc. These leads are not cheap and are pretty pricy even in Asia, around $2XX-$4XXAUD
New trend in Asian are electricity mods using, current stabliser, capcitors, leads, earthing cable. you can gain as much as 20hp + better engine response etc.

Going by the above information, would I be correct in saying that the general consensus is that OEM Honda leads would be the best option unless you plan on getting thicker core wires for racing purposes?
