Hi guys,

Just wondering about the wheel nuts for Mugen RNR rims?

I take it the nuts are supposed to sit above the rim and not within the stud holes, is this correct? The holes are tiny, and although i havent had the chance to test fit them on the car yet, it feels like only the stud would make it through.

Also is it the diagonal cone type or round/ball head for the nut?

Any one have any previous experience?

Will post some pics of the setup i plan on running once i get them off my camera.

Thanks.

great pictures :)
do the nuts wiggle on the holes? If it does, then it's not the right fit.
do you have the original oem nuts that comes with steelies? Give them a try.

you need the tapered nuts, so the diagonal one ur talking about.. im not sure the oem (ball) nuts will fit

thanks for the reply guys,

drove around with them today, even up to speeds of 120 on the freeway without any dramas. the nuts dont wriggle loose, and fit on nice and tight.

the project u nuts im using are tapered as you say according to the following pic, which yeh i was trying to describe poorly as diagonal.

so these are the correct nut design for the RNR's? my finger can't seem to detect if the holes are actually tapered or rounded.

usually aftermarket rims will take tapered nuts, but im not sure about mugen because usually they are an oem alternative and made to work with oem parts

Were the nuts new? If so you should be able to pull one off and tell whether it was making full contact with the wheel seat just by looking at the marks made on the tapered area.

From the pics it looks like the nut seating area is 60 degree taper so you should be fine, also all the Mugen wheel nuts that I have seen are 60 degree taper so it seems logical that their wheels would be too.

thanks for the replies. yeh pulled off the nuts. they are brand new. doesn't appear to be any marks on them yet, so i guess they are sitting pretty well and no extra stress at any particular point. it feels like they are sitting well, so i guess problem solved and i'm enjoying my wheels :)
