Diy: Spraying rims

hey guys, decided to spray my rims today. washed them down, dried them up, sanded them down, then applied the primer and 3 coats of black. I then applied the clear coat, the first coat seemed okay, but when i applied the next, it seems like i sprayed special sauce onto it? if you get me? i dont know if it's some sort of chemical reaction and the colour stuffed up but i dunno, i'm kinda scared :( hit me back when you can!

Did it look that good u jizzed on ur rims? haha nah I think it happened to my first time too. I think its too thick of a coating of clear coat? Pictures would be helpful thanks.

what kind of clear coat did you use?

VHT Clear Coat, i think it was the engine enamel one.

did you read the cans to see if the type of paint would cause a chemical reaction with another type of paint? they usually have some sort of warnings, like how enamel paints don't mix well with acrylic type paints. If you used the VHT wheel paint, you shouldn't have needed to use clear coat. If it wasn't due to mixing two different paint types then maybe it was because you didn't leave enough time for the paint to dry before applying the clear coat.

edit: seeing as how you used "enamel" clear, it was probably due to the different type of paint....

haha, i realised what happened, i sprayed too much clear coat xDD and i was told that it's normal for it to get 'milky' it's a normal reaction.
i used enamel gloss black and clear coat. thanks for the help everyone! my rims turn out........................... good, BUT the paint on the lip could've been abit neater :(

I was right! =]. Well if its too thick I guess you could sand it back down again.
