ok, looking at the back, i have 6 grey twisttops, which i assume are the #74s and they light up teh cluster
then i have the 11 black twistops which i assume are for the turn signals and warning lights, no idea what numbers those are
i twisted them all out and they all seem to have intact filament, but some r a little cloudy, ill replace the #74s with new crystal clear bulbs and see if my dimness issue continues
any advice on bulbs here

just replace all the cloudy ones with the same shape replacement bulb making sure they're Honda's specified wattage. That should fix it. also make sure your dimmer switch functions properly

went to jaycar, got some led's, will have a shot when i got time
also, if u know about the eg6 cluster, then u know that it doesnt work with the dimmer switch, its a jdm thing. the ek9 cluster also doesnt respond to the dimmer.
i thought all honda fanbois knew that

I'm with him... My cluster is dim. Would love a DIY guide with part numbers and quantity.

ok, swapped out the bulbs, waste of time, it was the same brightness. i gotta try the smd led's now, not sure if jaycar sell them. superbrightleds do, but need to order. pffft

Yep it's a t5 wedge led that jaycar carry. I need to try the smd led to see if they brighter
sucks that the eg6 cluster don't go any brighter

^^ can u repeat that again in English.
The smd led is a wedge led but the configuration of the light source is different, looks like a solar panel rather than a single bulb

Actually the led were still the red colour even tho I got white LEDs

all efforts are not a waste though ...... research is the only way

basically i had a look over at honda-tech.com and a post in 2004 mentioned that the problem stems from the resistors in the cluster limiting the ability to adjust the brightness. so unless someone can circumvent that resistor (knows about electronics) then its a lost cause, no amount of leds, smd leds will make it brighter. the guy at jaycar hooked up the led i bought and it was very bright, much brighter than in the cluster, thus concluding that the cluster is the problem, not the bulbs
ive given up and will drive with a dim cluster, as long as i can see the needles, i just cant make out the odo and trip meter unless i get right up close
