Posted this a while a go in another thread,
had a few people before ask me how i did it.

Anyway was very simple. Most would do it differently im not fussed. Was just a quick thing i did one day.....

If you want to do this properly please use proper paint, all i used at the time was SCA (Super-cheap auto) i think it was Australian export or what ever that $3 stuff is.

Anyway, don't have many pics as I was lazy but here is most of it.

What i started off with:

Sprayed 2cans of Undercoat Primer and left it to dry for about 2-3 hours.
Came back added 2-3 light coats of the black paint.

On the car:

Had some left over primer so i took the lid/cover of an old bucket/container and primered up the lip again. I then followed previous steps and painted the lip (in this case was a gloss red)...I added 2-3 coats of this and waited for it to dry:

As you can tell by the pics, I did not take the effort to mask the tyres off, so i picked up some satin black paint, put an old rim over the wheels i painted and sprayed the tyre over-spray in a satin black:

Put them on car, and done.

Followed same steps to do it in blue:

Then got over it all and got different rims that fitted better....and started it all over again :zip:

PS: all up would have cost around $15 in materials (if that) lasted good 6months on car with no dramas and are still sitting in shed fine.

I put an older wheel (of the same size) on top and sprayed the tyre in satin black. ;)
Lasted fine, ....and they still look fine.

If you did want to get rid of overspray some paint thinners would work fine, that or don't overspray to begin with.

In all honesty, masking off the rims from the tyres is a lot better, but as these were cheap rims/tyres and had no intention for keeping them too long i sprayed the tyres.

PS: when i went back to the polished look (black with silver lip) I just picked up some thinners and rubbed out the colour.

not too bad.
what i reckon as well if u cant be bothered masking off..use a deck of cards.
shove the cards around the edges between the wheel n the rim, cheap and lazy way of masking off haha
