Ozhonda Moves to vBulletin 4

Hi all,

Post any issues following the upgrade and I will look into it. Please be patient though, I've got a lot on my plate!

Still a work in progress guys so please be patient. Ran into some issue with the Gallery so will slowly bring things back to the way they used to be (template wise).

Any issues please post here and I'll go through them bit by bit.

Status Report

Here are the issues that have been fixed:
1. Problem with uploading attachment and avatars
2. Problems searching (not all results were coming up)
3. Large Gap between post and signature
4. Code showing up in title bar when viewing threads with prefixes
5. Problem when trying to find a username in Advanced search (it was not carrying out the Auto Complete). This has now been fixed.
6. State specific access navbar restored (used to be called "Community" but now called "Regional")
7. Rep/PQ removed from the lounge

Here are the oustanding issues (which are being worked on of course!):
1. Deleted posts - Does not show who the post was deleted by
2. Line / Break between signature and post - TBA

That looks like it is a spacing issue with vB where it is leaving some extra space. I've had a quick look and haven't found the setting for it but will have to get back to you on it.

Yeah that's the plan. I'm manually trying to bring it back to the previous style as best possible (I'm no graphic designer unfortunately!). As soon as the style that we used to use is available for vB4 I will get that installed. But till then my colour skills might have to do!

I just checked on Firefox, Chrome & IE and couldn't reproduce that gap. Will try on my macbook and get back to you. Seems like a Safari issue from what I can see atm.

I need to rebuild the search indexes. If I can't do it today will try and get it done tomorrow.

I understand the frustration more then you can imagine. After all I've been sitting in front of a computer since 10am this morning. The upgrade (whether it was to vB4 or vB3.8.x) was imminent as the version we were running had a known security issue.

I understand it is all a lot to get used to but I'm working on it. Moving to vB4 was the next step (short of switching to another forum software, which is another can of worms on its own).

Nps......feedback is welcome.

As I mentioned....the change was primarily due to security reasons. Vb3.8.x is coming to the end of its support cycle and vb4 is the next logical choice in the upgrade path.

In regards to the style/theme, I'm waiting for an upgrade on the theme / style we were using before. Once it is available I'll get it installed. For now I've tried to mimic the previous style as best as possible.

This new version does seem to be quite messy and hard to navigate around. I do agree that the old one was easier but i guess its coz we're use to it. Im sure we should adapt to it sooner or later.

Everyone always resists change at first, but you have to remember that tweaks and fixes are done on a rolling basis which will eventually mold the website back to its glory days but better - keeping up with the latest technologies

Wyn, when you open a state tagged for sale thread e.g. [VIC] Stuff for sale
the actual page title shows the css/html tags too, like <span style="blah">VIC</span>blah blah

and yeah, i think it'll just be a matter of getting used to. i'm sure you'll work on different colour schemes/layouts once all the bugs are ironed out.

Yeah it is. I just clicked it and got over 10 pages of new posts. If you've just recently logged on, you might have less 'new posts'. Let me know how you go.

Yeah I noticed the same problem at work too. Seems it is an issue to do with our CMPS (what we use for the Main page (http://www.ozhonda.com)) and not the vB software itself.

Just need to click the "Single Content Type" tab (see attachment (http://www.ozhonda.com/gallery/data/500/search_adv.jpg)). I've made this the default now anyways.

this is located in the settings page, under each of the threads you are subscribed to

im so used to the old user cp, that i keep accidentally clicking on the unsubscribe link thinking that it is the last page number link

2. We used to be able to see which mod deleted a post, dont think we can anymore

I really don't see the issue. The Reply/Unsubscribe options are seperated with enough space by the username / last post date. It's not a lot different to before the upgrade (where the reply/unsubscribe options were just on a new line). It's too much of a chance for a minor convenience so it won't be happening sorry.

That option you speak of wasn't even there before the upgrade. Quick way to go to another forum is to use the Quick Navigation Menu just below the page numbers.

cannot change for sale thread title anymore, is this a problem or just the way it is?
i remembered that i could change thread title regardless of time.

I am not sure if its to do with LONG titles only, but try this please:

Go 'edit' 'go advanced' delete the title completely and hit 'save'. Now go back in the same way and enter your new title and hit 'save'. Tell us if it works please.

I'm trying to replicate it on Mum's laptop but the forum looks good, she runs explorer browser where I use chrome instead, will try on mine later when I get home.

Edit: Home now on chrome and all seems ok so I'll keep an eye on it.

is it possible to position inbox quota limit bar on the top area? (folder control)
reason being, i have to scroll to the bottom to see how much inbox space i have left.

it's not that i'm lazy scrolling down but if i can see what my quota is everytime i open my inbox without scrolling down,
it would be easy to regularly see that i have this/that much inbox space left.

i don't know if that might be a troublesome thing to revise, just a suggestion to promote more user friendly layout.
