eg si or eg vti?? and why??

NEW UPDATE:
hey guys!

i ended up getting a civic gli eg5 hatch!
soo here begins my civic project ! im excited
hopefully i can save enough money n get a type-r conversion by end of yr ..

but as for now, do u think i can do afew lil mods here n der perhaps on my gli ?? like intake? or exhaust that might give me abit more power from its stock form??

cheers

the VTI has a SOHC VTEC engine and the SI has DOHC non vtec engine ... other than that the VTI comes stock with a sunroof and the others dont ... take your pick

the gli is ok for engine conversion as well ... but you will have to upgrade the brakes and add the VTI rear swaybar ... not that hard really

Whatever EG you get, make sure it's EFI/fuel-injected, it would save alot of hassles when it comes time to do a conversion.

With a non-fuel injected EG, you'd have to convert it to fuel-injected when you chuck in a B-series, which involves sourcing different fuel tank/pump/lines etc.

so something like an eg breeze is out of the question?

VTi

Because it's VTEC and EFI so you'll have a little less wiring and stuff to do later on. Plus you get the nice things like sunroof and, if you're lucky, A/C and airbag. 4 wheel disc brakes too :)

An EG breeze wouldn't be out of the question, but would require a bunch more work and expenses to get it ready for a conversion.
If you do the right research and are able to source everything quickly and cheaply, a breeze would be fine, but in the end a VTI would provide less headaches for a conversion.

up to you

vti- sunroof, rear disk brakes, cup holders... probably the quickest that will convert to the b-series, but the vti's are pretty expensive in the market. but then u have a good motor to drive around until u get the converion

si- slighly ligher chassis then the vti, rear disks.. probably same to convert the vti, but u gotta sort the vtec thing out, similar price to vti, similar power output like the vti, just a milli second faster as the chassis is lighter, also a good motor to be driving around until the motor conversion

gli- cheapest base to get, but requires the most work to get to the bseries, as you will probably want to upgrade the rear drums to disk.

rear drums to disc isnt really that hard to be honest

its the breeze that will give u headaches ... any of the other models will be fine ... but a VTI would be the best

if u want to save money, get abreeze. but this is what you need to do to get it ready for conversion

fuel tank which will come wiht fuel pump aswell, fuel lines, interior wiring harness asweell (meaning you'd have to ripp off your entire dashboard and swap the harness over.

if you want a sunroof, get a vti, if you dont, get a Si or a GLi. same brakes, power options and yeh.

personally id go vti for the sunroof, cup holders, rear disc brakes.
but if ur gonna be stripping it anyway, id go gli and put a rear disc conversion (thats what i have)

whats with the eg GL?

not fuel injected. it's as bad a breeze in terms of conversions

tell us your budget and we will tell you what to get

get a eg that is clean and straight as your doing a conversion anyway
doesnt matter what engine it has in there

will you be doing it yourself ?

you can buy a EG for under 1k. if you're going to respray it and etc.. dont worry about body condition as long as its straight
if you're picky and want something thats never been hit before... you're looking at alot more than that

Go for the Vti or Si, have nicer interiors and all power options. And as mentioned before they have good engines to drive until your new engine.

Why so many people saying he has to convert a Gli to rear disc breaks?

Vti, Si, and Gli are all power options and have rear disc breaks. Vti and Si been the better of the bunch.

Go Vti, It's got a sunroof.

GLi does not have rear disc brakes

it has drums
Si and Vti is better for starters
it has the brake prop vavles too + everything everyone has mentioned
if you wanna spend abit more get a si or Vti
iv seen a vti for 2K

$10k??
U can get an already finished eg with b18c for near that with name parts fitted, look hard and they r there. I did it

i jsut found out you dont even need fuel lines to do a EFi conversion.. strange..

For around $6000 you can get an EG with a B18C2 already installed with I/H/E etc. It might not be engineered or be showroom quality but with the extra cash you'll have you can get it there no problem. And a B18C2 would pull awesome in an EG.

dont think i ever seen an eg with b18c for $6k, certainly wouldnt be more than a stock car with engine, doubt it would have lsd even.
and ps and ac is a must when i look for a car, too many of these conversions dont have either of these, which is a huge red flag

Take a look for yourself mate:

HERE (http://firesport.com.au/eg-civic-with-b18c2-6000-car-trading-point-sales--ad150155.htm)

Needs engineering certificate. Comes with RWC and a couple of months rego. Asking price is $6g and if you can't get it into good order with the other $4g in your budget then I'd be surprised lol.

EDIT: This one is just an example, but over the last month I saw two more ones similar to this, one for $5500 stock engine and one for $7000 with I/H/E.

Sorry, I misread and assumed u were referring to the b18c motor from the itr seeing as that was the flavour of my post

I understand that an eg with the vtir motor is cheaper, anyway, if u can only afford the vtir motor then that's fine but try and stretch for the itr motor

I think there are upsides and downsides to that. Obviously it's up to the individual and I'm the same as you - I'd go B18CR or B18C7 if anything other than my standard B16A.

But for people considering a B16A swap I always suggest B18C2 because it's only $500-1000 more expensive.

Either way I'm sure they'd hammer real well and both better than the B16's.

Don't waste ur time or money on engine mods, especially if u intend to swap motors, put it into coilovers or decent spring shock combo, and buy nice rims. Alternatively put some into interior, like sound system and seats
definitely avoid throwing good money into the stock engine

^^ correct!.

Good tires + suspension will be your best bet with the standard eg4 nugget motor. Get your car handling and carrying as much corner speed as possible.
