Hey all,

Total n00b here hence the question and posting section.

I *may* be looking at getting into a civic..question is..

I would only look at buying one with a b18c or k20 swap road registered and finished etc. Just wondering how often these shcmick examples come up for sale and what kinda price range am i looking at ? Oh, in NSW.

Won't be getting one anytime soon as i would have to sell my current car first.

Thanks all.

I havn't seen much b18c eg civics, well last few I saw they were atleast 18k+. But I have seen heaps of H22A in eg civics on carsales for like under 14k, but a civic with a k20 is really rare.

Good luck

18k for a b18c civic lol. don't think so man. even if there was one for sale, thats waay overpriced imo

you can easily get b18 eg's under 12k. price depends on quality and other parts. theres a h2b swapped eg for sale atm for 18k.

your looking at around 16-20 for a k20 swapped civic but again price depends on other parts, quality and also what model civic its in.

you'd really need to specify what type of civic your chasing - ie ef, eg, ek, em1?

from my research and buying history, most k20 conversions were done into ek civics. ive seen a few here in my time, and most want at least $18k+. whether they get that is another story
b18c converted civics (eg and ek) are more common, but there has been a drought recently. i have a mate thats after one atm, none around thats reasonably priced. egjoe sold his red one in qld for about $16-17k, but his had a lot of stuff on. plus it was in excellent condition. an em1 went in qld again for about $14k
there is an em1 in nsw but he wants $18k or something
im running both an eg and ek with b18c atm. i am currently working up to selling the ek in the next few weeks. pm me if u like to discuss
remember, price is dependent on a lot of things, namely condition of the car, the amount of parts that come with the car and how the car runs. a lot of rough ones out there. i reckon price ranges from anywhere from $10k-15k

Thanks for the info thus car guys, it's been quite helpful already

In terms of model, i would definitely look into an EG/EK and maybe EM (will the em be heavier due to design?). I don't think i'd be interested in anything older like an ef but i guess i can't say without inspecting/driving one. Ultimately, it'd be an eg with k20a for me. Anyone know what these do the 1/4 in in stock/mild form ?

Thought there might have been a recent drought with converted civics, had a look on carsales and on here and didn't come up with too much.

Thanks for the the notice yellows2k, but without having sold my car first, this is all just research atm. And seeing as how it's pretty hard to sell cars atm, it might be awhile :(

I have a v35 skyline currently.. unsure as to if i'm selling it yet however. Trying to decide if i can get out of the v and into a fast civic for a weekender.

I had a run with an eg+k20a awhile ago in my old mazda 3 mps (with light mods), it was faster than me in 1st and 2nd but i started reeling it in 3rd (the 1st gen mps3 runs lower boost in 1st and 2nd for traction then full boost from third on). I was impressed :D..i think they were too lol..i had the MPS badge removed and kept it stock exterior (looked like a normal mazda 3 sort of). Anyways, getting off track.

Are you interested in a v35 ? :D Haha.. it's not actually on the market/forums yet.. i'm here gathering info to see if i can make the move. Had a look at some youtube in car clips of civics with k/b swaps... Some of them showed awesome acceleration while some didn't look too impressive considering the swap/weight etc.

Anyone able to tell me 1/4 times for stockish motor b18c and k20a in either eg/ek civic ?
How is handling as well - does putting a heavier engine at the front upset things? I can imagine the braking to be good with upgraded itr items etc on such light chassis. Don't care about creature comforts - my daily is so pos it has no air/steer =/

the k20 is actually a lighter engine than the b18c as its all aluminium i heard.
a dc2r has been recorded as doing 13.9 to low 14s 1/4mile
an eg has shown time slips with high 13s on these forums.
im guessing a fairly stock b18c in an eg and ek will get similar times, around the high 13s.
and a slightly modified b18c will get u mid 13s.
k20, no idea

Thanks for your help yellows2k, much appreciated. Think i just got all the info i need lol.

It sounds like i will only be interested in ek/eg with mild/medium b18 or stockish/mild k20a. Prefer k20a if it's lighter, long as the weight isn't situated higher. Something hopefully engineered/setup for touge/circuit.

Now to see if i can bring myself to sell the v. Thanks alot once again mate.

in qld so im assuming they'd be similar (if not, sydney may be a couple of grand cheaper)
b18cr eg in pretty good condition - dont pay more than $12500
h22a eg in pretty good condition - around $8000 - $10000
b16a eg average condition - $4500 - $6000
k20 eg - $15000
id go ek, eg's are gettin old although parts are everywhere
good luck

^^ thats pretty much about right, give or take, depending on whats incl in the car. obviously an example with lots of goodies might fetch a few k more, whereas a car with just the engine would be at the low end
