My misses is wanting to have vtec in her engine. And im not up for spending such a big wod of cash on a engine conversion.
But what exactly would be the price for it?
I am not sure what motor she has but she i believe it is a b16??? its a nugget and she cant stand it no more haha ..
So what would be involved in changing an engine? Do you need to change the gearbox aswell etc?
Would it be just better to work the stock motor? (I dont want her to have a turbo car but) just somthing with some balls and ofcourse some vtec wouldnt hurt :)
Thanks

1. No money no honey boss.
2. EK gli does not have VTAK, it has D16Y4 single cam EFI DOHC motor.
3. B16A has VTAK, cost is roughly 2-3k maybe abit more installed (front cut should have everything you need for conversion).
4. Engine conversion from EK Gli (D16Y4) to B16A requires you to change motor, gearbox, ECU, driveshaft, and other things.
5. Working your stock EK Gli motor is a waste of money imo.
You're welcome.

turbo will be cheaper then a conversion, unless u find a cheap b16a package

maybe try a mini me conversion saves a few thousand in doing it, a mini me conversion in your case would be a non-vtec sohc d16y4 to a vtec sohc d16 it wont increase the power by much probs about 10kw maybe less. but if you want to spend more go for a b-series would be better in the long run.
heres a link - mini me (http://www.d-series.org/forums/showcase/46870-my-first-diy-mini-me-swap.html)
hope this helps

How was I being a smartass? Maybe you should actually read the OP's post, specifically the part where he says HE DOESN'T WANT TURBO.

How isn't that being a smartass? There was no need for you to comment but you always do trying to act like a smartass. Had enough of your shit.
The OP doesn't sound like he knows much about Hondas and never gave a reason why he doesn't want turbo, makes turbo look like a big bad monster. If its for the P-plater rules then fair enough, but if it isn't, i don't see why he can't just get a turbo, has he even actually thought about it? he doesn't even know what engine he has or anything about the car, obviously he isn't educated
He can run a small turbo and low boost and make it similar to the b16a power output, and of 50% of the cost

OP doesn't need to justify his reasons for not wanting it to be Turbo, that is one of the conditions for his question. Other people have been able to answer it fine instead of suggesting something he has stated he doesn't want.
And I don't comment "trying to act like a smartass", I simply point out people's mistakes/shortfalls, might be blunt but if you don't like it then you should start paying attention to the OP/topic alot more in future.

I read it that he doesn't want to turbo it. I still posted cause he should actually consider it, other then just "i dont want turbo". Dunno if OP ever been in a b16a EK, but vtec isn't everything, its over rated and is pretty much just a sound in the b16, not a massive pull and "ballsy". If he wants ballsy, do a small turbo conversion, its all im saying.
If its ur girlfriends car and u want it to be ballsy and wanna spend around 4k doing the b16a conversion, its a waste of money and you will find that it will still be a nugget unless you put out more money to modify it. If shes a P Plater, then fair enough go the b16a, but if not, consider the snail
