looks like a snorkle to me, it goes on top of one of the airvents?
have a look at another DC2's tranny to see where ;)

fark... this is prolly causing the quiet but noticable 'flicking' noise thats coming out of my left hand side air vent....
its definately NOT inside the tranny cos we picked it up from on top of the transmission prior to removing it...

It looks like the rubber bit for the gearbox vent.

you guys know abouts it it located?... is it important? like to stop water from entering gearbox etc... could this be the reason for the noise i'm experiencing now? how hard is it to put it back?...
SPEEDCORE
13-12-2004, 04:16 PM
Personally you will want to put it back.... all it does is save crap from falling in and lets air escape.... duh its a vent SPEEDCORE. ;) It will be on the top side of the gear box more towards the front of the car directly below the distributor... sorry best explination I can give. You will see a metal pipe about 5mm diameter and about an inch or two in height. Push that rubber sucker back onto it.
As for noise now that you changed the clutch, I would seriously doubt that there would be sufficient venting of air for you to notice noise that is concerning you. Install error could be the issue here. :(

can i trouble one of you guys to take a snapshot pic? :)
hmm its really really silent... only noticable when i dont have any music on...
we were getting a loud clunking noise b4 and it turn out that the right side drive shaft (when you're inside the car) wasnt pushed all the way in...
cant be the left hand side too can it? there's like 3 bolts

still cant find it.... >.<
speedcore... you're not referring to the gear box oil inlet valve are you? because this isnt it for sure... i've already got a plug in there
SPEEDCORE

Oil inlet valve?? You've lost me there.
You can fill from that vent but go watch 2 Lord of the Ring movies cause it is gonna take ages. ;) Though in saying this.... is good to take off while filling g'box up to help speed things up a bit, not essential though!
I've taken a couple pics.. they are a bit big 600kb but will give you an idea where it is. It is off the G/Fs EK4 but serves the purpose on B series. The plug does look different however.
And now that you mention you already have a plug there I am a bit  . Anyhow, this may prove helpful to others in the future. PM me your MSN for pics.

After having a chat to Kenshin...... and finding out he has JDM front on his DC2R (bastard :p ) and now knowing that he has the plug over the vent on the gearbox, the only thing I could think of is from the back of the headlight unit. Like the drain/air thing at the back of headlight units that have a little rubber tube that come off the backs of them. Kenshin is adament it is not that either.
So it has stumped the heck out of me.
This is really freaky! You sure it is from the car?? ;)

Actually come to think of it, it looks more like the rubber thing from the headlight housing.
kenshin
13-12-2004, 07:54 PM
yep thats definately not it wynode... i've got that sucker already in place...
as speedcore and slik teg points out they're pretty certain its from the headlights
which is weird... why/wat was it doin on top of my tranny as we were removing the airbox at that time...
and where does it go... been lookin all afternoon for it lol
i'm not worried... car runs fine BUT i've got it... and if theres a place for it... whynot stick it back i mean it was made for a purpose...

it comes from the head light, its should also have a metal clip holding it down. ( 2000 models does anyway ) look at the other side to compare.

kenshin
17-12-2004, 07:36 PM
i think you could be correct...
cos its definately not from headlights... and would explain how it ended up on the gearbox
not important right ben?
