hey dudes,
was wondering whether an oil catch can would be worthwhile putting on my gen3. its done a few km's and the breather line is filthy. is it a worthwhile job to do??
thanks

The crank case breather hose vents air and oil from under the rocker cover back into the intake arm (before the throttle body).

Oil reduces the octane rating of the fuel, hence the reason an oil catch can is effective :)

BTW it is illegal to vent this oil vapour from the breather hose into the atmosphere.

Honestly opinon, i believe an oil catch can is a wank factor on an n/a after reading what it does. It does do a little but not as much as a turbo car would. At the same time it is not legal to have one in your car from what i hear. Well not if you vent the gases off into the atmoshphere. Depends what copper pulls you over i guess.

I am not sure what type of Integra my mates is, but he installed his own fabricated oil catch can. A lot of people say it does not make any difference in performance and some people say it does.

You can make up your minds. The following photo/link is from his Integra, it show how much oil he caught in his catch can in just over a year.

Ive always thought it was to make the engine cleaner rather than a performance thing

It does not make the engine cleaner as such, its just a breather hole, but by having an oil catch can you are thereby stopping the oil vapours entering your air intake and therefore its cleaner air. Is that what you meant?
As a perfomance increase. I have heard it does make a difference and I have heard it doesn't. I know I would perfer it not to get in my intake.
