hey guys/gals
i am currently driving an ek hatchback with 2 1/4 catback exhaust with oval muffler. It is too loud n i cant handle it especially when its hot, ive already put a resonator in and its still loud as f*#!. i was thinking of changing my piping to 2 inch mendrel bent, would that make much difference?what else are my options?cause i don't want to get rid of my muffler (last option if i have too). My main question is where abouts can i get 2inch mendrel bent for a reasonable price where they do a decent job in melbourne.

thanks in advance
phi

I had the same prob before when i had a single reasonator. Have you gone and asked if there is enough space for another reasontor? it makes a big difference.
Also there are straight thru reasonators with a swirl look inside them. They also make it just abit quieter, but are more expensive. I think it was like $120 fitted here for the swirl type on and $80 for an extra reasonator.

You can go for the smaller diameter but you might feel the performance diff more.
Also can you get a silencer? or maybe just change the muffler to an offset straight thru and that will again reduce the noise.

Good luck cos when i did it the car's performance dropped abit. there is always a scarifice in performance when you go quieter

Sorry didnt completely read your post. My comments are always the same. Get a Twin Loop. Its a performance zorst and has no sound what so ever.

you could always try the apexi butterfly value thing mabob (sorry dont knows its name) it allows you to vary the flow of your exhaust directly from the drivers seat, so it basically works the same as a silencer.

Check the apexi website, sorry but im too tired.

You don't always have to get brand names you know. eg MUGEN. there twin loop replicas that do exactly the same job.

I am using mugen catback exhaust system. It is a very good exhaust. You will feel very smooth. But compare with 5zigen catback exhaust system, mugen will lose a little bit top end and gain around 3800-5500rpm. If this is your daily drive car, choose mugen. If you always at the high rpm, i recommend use 5zigen.

Mugen cat back is quite expensive 1.7k roughly. Or you can go for second option which i did was, Xforce twin loop and custom piping. Well i re used my old Buddy club spec II piping and custom axle back. Very cheap options.

You'll get used to the sound. The civic isn't the best car for keeping out noise.. Take off one of the the rear speaker covers and you'll see just why.

Try sitting on the passenger's side and you'll think it's even louder.

Mugen or Xfroce twin loop are made to reduce sound. It has a nice note to it and its not defectable. As for power it is max power. Cheapest option is get xforce s10 (twinloop) then go to ur local muffler joint and get custom cat back. Its cheap as piss.
