I thought a few people might find this interesting.

There's been some mention on the U3-X previously however the prototype has been recently demonstrated in New York. Although it won't be replacing active legs in the short term, there are some areas where its use can come in handy.

The balancing system was extensively developed on the ASIMO project.

Some quick specs:
Height 25.6In
Weight <10kgs
Battery Lithium Ion
Operating time 1 hour

There's a bit more information here (http://asimo.honda.com/innovations/U3-X-Personal-Mobility.aspx).

if this could go faster than running speed... say 60km/h, then i would get it, but it doesnt look like its designed to go that fast.. only slightly faster than walking. and to me it looks like a lazy way of getting around. however, i do see this as an awesome way that paraplegics and lower body disabled people can get around without wheelchairs or crutches.

running speed is around the 30km/ph mark
the 100m athletes do around 35km/ph
plus u'd probly stack it off the u3 if you were going that fast lol
