what were the plugs previously attached to?

what colours are the wires coming out of them?

have you treid to start the engine?

tinkerbell

the top pic plug should attach to the engine harness...

tinkerbell
14-12-2004, 08:58 AM
and the bottom pic should attach to the FPR solenoid?

FR33K

is the top pic plug attached to the engine harness or the chassis harness?

there should have been 3 plugs around that area, the two pin one, and the two other larger plugs.

it would not go vroom vroom if he was only going to turn the ignition on.

that only happens when you try to start it.

when you turn the ignition on it should go click...click and you should hear the fuel pump go whizzzzzz for 2 seconds.

the check engine light should come on for 2 seconds then go off.

if it does not go off - that is when you check for codes on the ECU and then you can troubleshoot...

yeh the engine light stayed on
and it made a funny noise that wouldnt go away lol

FR33K

its a buzzing sound that comes from behind the cluster
and the engine light only comes on faintly

tinkerbell

is the battery fully charged?

are the earths good? (the one on the thermostat, the gearbox and onto the rocker cover?)

sort out the faint check engine light first...

ok the b18 only had 2 connectors coming out of the engine harness whereas this one has 3
hmmm...

tinkerbell

yes, but in theory it should be OK?

but i dont always like theories, so you can swap the B18A engine harness onto the B16A - then you will have to add the 4 new wires,

but it should work (without VTEC though).

tinkerbell
14-12-2004, 09:47 AM
yeah - sorry man - best option is to swap the B18A harness onto the B16A...

FR33K

would that be hard to do with the engine already in....

tinkerbell
14-12-2004, 10:24 AM
there are a couple of harness clips under the intake manifold that might be difficult to remove, but not really hard,

just fiddly...

otherwise you could try re-pinning the B16A harness, but there is no-way you could do this if you didnt know how to...

not looking forward to this...

tinkerbell
14-12-2004, 10:52 AM
it is easy, just slightly fiddly...

it is only the injectors that are a hassle, and the bits undert the intake manifold...

the bottom red circle is the bits under the intake manifold...

glad it is on the road!

make sure you do a 'spanner check' at about 500 to 1000km just to make sure everything is still tight ;)
