Gentlemen ,

Due to my wheels rubbing against the plastic inside the front wheel arches it is practically hanging off.

I want to completely remove the plastic but don't want to have the cables behind it exposed to water and what not.

Is there an alternative way to cover up the cables / wiring found behind this plastic?

Do many people completely remove the plastic from there wheel arches ?

yeh ive seen it done a lot

you can tape up the cables, or put it in the bendable plastic covers... cant remember what theyre called... or you could heatshrink wrap them

Ive been looking to do this also. Is there any potential damage that could be done to the underside or engine bay by stones etc? I heard if I got a stone inside one of the belts - i think timing belt - could cause some sever damage.

the only damage that could occur are paint chips on the chassis. the rocks are flung up by the wheels, behind the wheels, and not over into the engine bay so you SHOULD* have nothing to worry about

*well theres always the freak occurance of a rock ending up in the engine bay, but its extremely unlikely, given the difference taking the plastic off makes

there is no way a rock can get into the timing belt area because it is protected by a plastic cover from top to bottom.

Thank you for the input all.

Going to give the cables a thick wrap in tape and just strip the plastic out.

this is a good thread...my plastics are worn as well from scrapeage..

and easy to open hood cause of easy reach of the opening cable..

any light to shead?
