Hey guys i just thought i might try out something new and ask if you guys wanted to share any tips or tricks to get your s2000's running better/perform better, i was just reading an article in a fast 4's mag and it was describing what mods to begin with and gave price ranges from 0 dollars to about $4000, and one of the cheapest tips mentioned was how effective proper maintenance is, and having you vehicle fully restored before starting any serious mods.
this included new oil, oil filter, air filter, diff oil, trans oil, new quality spark plugs, and fuel filters and in this article they believe these few simple things can increase power by up to 10 kilowatts which i thought was quite impressive for something that should be regularly changed, now i understand most of you are probably car enthusiasts so you guys probably would change these every 5-10,000k's but thought i might ask if there are any other little tips or tricks you guys would like to share that is quite effective that is often overlooked.

John says a few things about it at the bottom of the 2nd post. One of the best things calibrating ya voltage on the tps achieves is it allows U to hold a certain speed/rpm up a hill.No need to guts it once ya tps is calbrated!!

A few more things!

This is just dealing with the running of your engine, not suspension.

- Use Subaru Upper engine cleaner every 2nd/3rd oil change
- Check resistance in your leads is fine
- Clean/replace spark plugs and set gap correctly
- Clean contact points in the dizzy and lightly sand the rotor on the outer edge where it sparks on the contact points.Clean the spark plug cylinder tubes with tissues - Link (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?119576-DIY-MSD-Ignition-System-Install)

It's so important to have your ignition system at 100% if ya want ya car performing 100% too.I regulary do the above 2 points and the car performs better for it!

- Adjust the Tappets (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15443&highlight=tappet+adjustment) - VERY IMPORTANT!
- Clean air filter OR replace with pod filter and good cold air piping/Cold air intake. The point is COLD AIR/air from outside the engine bay (Make sure you re-connect the IAT sensor on the new intake arm) Link (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?93744-Breathing-Fresh-Air-(finally))

A dirty air filter will take away a chunk of your performance.

- Get a wheel/camber/toe alignment and for $6 a tyre at bob jane's U can get Nitrogen in ya tyres = stiffer sidewalls = GOOD!!
- Change the oil and oil filter (every 5000km's)
- Change the fuel filter every 2nd oil change
- Transmission oil is every 20,000km's
- Charge your battery to full
- Expell air in coolant system through the radiator
- Check for engine codes and get familiar with how to do it!
- And get used to doing regular checks of everything in the engine bay,I have found many problems like this! - Like bolts I forgot to do up!
- And check for air leaks everywhere, all the clamps on the intake, all the gaskets on the engine and all the gaskets on the exhaust system! Important! No use having the whole thing running 100% if it's just gonna lose it somewhere.
- Make your car as light as possible
- Use BP Ultimate 98 fuel only (1/2 a tank max at a time if your keen)
- Just a small amount of windshield water too!
_ Also for $40 an injector (well worth it) you can get the spray pattern and flow rate adjusted correctly
- Also look into advancing the timing 2-3 degrees - Buy a timing light and have a play! Link (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?120425-DIY-Adjusting-Ignition-Timing)
- Insulate your fuel lines - prevent the fuel from getting warm/hot
- DIY port job on the Throttle body and butterfly plate (small round file) and Intake manifold and head if ya keen (with a dremel).

Just needs to be polished:

You are aware the F20C doesn't have a dizzy, so useless to clean contact points and advance timing, or check resistance of leads.

Check all your mounts, engine, gearbox, diff mounts. Engine mounts can show wear even breakages above 100k. Pop it up on a hoist and check the gearbox and diff mounts. Worn mounts would be common amongst older models. Replace both if one out of a set that is damaged. You don't have to buy OEM, i think spoon ones are actually cheaper and slighly more rigid. Innovative also does mounts as an alternative, they also offer different rigidity rates. Well priced too.
