Hey.. a few months ago my car key remote wouldn't lock occasionally (I just figured the battery was dying/cutting out) but then a few weeks ago stopped working all together so I bought a new battery (a Duracell 2025 as it does indicate CR2025 on the remote's battery-lid). But it still doesn't lock the car. I showed my dad and he said there should be some magnet on the negative side (the lid) where there isn't. Is this accurate and if so where can I buy it or get it fixed?

With those batteries, there's nothing on the "lid" (cover) as the batteries aren't made that way. I have the same batteries in my remotes, but I can't be sure that you have the same remote units as i do.
The small cell batteries like the ones that are in the remote units that we have don't have anything on the 'back" of the battery. The contact points are on the top, and mainly on the side. having the contact point on the side means that you don't have to have anything extra on the lid or cover that might fall off or just not contact.
From my limited experience I'd say that you have one thing to do, but two options for it. what you need to do is find out if the remote is functioning as it should. The two ways to do that would be to either take it to a Honda dealer (with the car) and get them to check it out and see if they can find anything, or you can take it to a key place that does transponder keys, and see if they can find out if it is working or not. I'd almost guarantee that the Honda dealer will give you a better answer, but I can also pretty much guarantee that you'll be paying a pretty nice premium for a good answer like that.
Remote could be water damaged! I had similar problem with my remote, Could even be the result of sweaty pockets or condensation leaked inside. Try to get it replaced under warranty just tell em its faulty.
