View Full Version : Which OEM Honda muffler for EG Hatch?

Trying to find out what options I have in terms of mounting a factory Honda muffler to my EG Hatch.

Looking to reduce noise, while maintaining as much performance as possible.

Engine is a B16A, with a 5zigen header & MetalCat.

Guessing once i remove my existing catback i'll replace it with custom 2.25" piping.

What options out of the OEM Honda muffler range do I have that will mount and satisfy my requirement?

I tried searching and even turned to google, but wasn't able to find anything specific.

Thanks

ive got a eg with a h22 in it. Ive got the mugen street exhaust, its extremely quiet until i put my foot down which it is then really loud.
if u've got the $$ id keep my eye out for one
for a cheaper option, you could just go to an exhaust shop and get 2.25 with a resonator and small-ish muffler (thats wat i did on my vtir integra) and it seemed to work both in performance and noise level.
hope it could help

just get a aftermarket muffler like magnaflow etc. get the biggest one you can fit underneath with a resenator, if you stay away from the cannon type mufflers you should be fine with the noise.

From what I could find the EK9 muffler is a performer along with EP3R.

Would the EG VTI or EK4 muffler flow as well? I can't find anything to back that up.

What about DC2R or DC5R or do they not fit a hatchback?

ive heard a few ppl put the dc2r muffler on, but to be honest, i'd go aftermarket muffler for performance.

So the DC2R can fit on a hatch? Sweet... one of those might be easier to find.

DC2R won't be a straight fit for EG hatch, muffler is too long.
To get it to fit you'll need to get it cut short and modified to fit.

the dc2r muffler will need some minor mods im quite sure.

i would agree, its not too expensive to buy a oval type muffler, and generally they arent that loud.

instead of going and buying another stock honda muffler, which tend to be restrictive.

good pointers 503ASY

That's the interesting part.

I've found from random google searching that some OEM honda mufflers flow quite well.

Typically anything from the Type-R family of cars.

What i couldn't find is information on what would fit an EG hatch.

I actually anticipate it costing about the same if not more to find and fit an OEM part than going with aftermarket.

But OEM = guarenteed quality IMO

And ultimately less noise and attention.

I heard from mates that dc2r cat and b-pipe with the ek9 muffler on an eg flow really well and remains quiet. When it comes to the full dc2r system you need to shorten the inlet pipe into the muffler and maybe shorten the tip a little cos it sticks out a fair bit.

Fantastic. I think my question has been answered.

Now to get my hands on an EK9 or EP3R muffler.

Don't like the sounds of hacking up a DC2R muffler.

Knowing my luck it will just end in disappointment.

Thanks all.

Bringing an old thread back to life.

Seems as though the only OEM muffler I’m going to find is from a DC2R given how rare the other models are here.

Does anyone have pics of one installed on an EG hatch? or firsthand experience with it on their car?

I've searched everywhere and all I can find are posts of people saying they have one installed.

Thought about S2000 muffler?
It's a twinloop. The size might be big on EG... not sure, but I've seen 'em on EK

If it goes on ek hatch it'll fit my eg. Any pics?

Sounds like a good option.

Never said they didn't flow.

Just that finding an EK9 or EP3R muffler in Oz has proven to be difficult.

Your yellow eg looks great, and the EK9 muffler looks to be a perfect fit.

Now to find some pics of a DC2R muffler fitted to a hatch.
