Hey guys I suspect some rust is coming through at the front of the roof in my EG.
My dad's lancer also copped rust in the rear and front section of the roof, after taking it to a painter/panel beater it looks like it's coming through again on the same area.
I want to get onto this ASAP and as my dad's has seemed to reappear I am wondering whether it is just poor workmanship or something tough to get rid of?
Is it a common rust area in the EG's? I've never seen anyone else dealing with the problem and I thought the EG copped it in lower areas of the car.

Lots of pre 1995 veicles i see are coming in with rust now. If the rust is very bad if has to be cut out, if it is slight, then it can be controlled by a good sand, putty and spray. Just get the paint blended by a good worksop and you shouldnt be able to tell the difference. Goodluck with the rust mate.

Has your car been resprayed before? It could just be due to the car being exposed to pro-longed conditions.
But if it has been resprayed before (within the past 3-5 years) and rust appears underneath the paint, could indicate poor workmanship.

yeah I'm guessing my dads was just sanded and then puttied but it wasn't enough maybe?
I'm going into local paint shops to find out what it's gunna cost. I don't want this getting any worse. My roof needs a respray due to milano pink-itis anyway.

well I can't confirm or deny it has been resprayed. I've had it for nearly 4 years and I have suspicions of respraying but I can't say yes or no sadly.
I was hoping I could put up with the paint fade until I strip it down for a respray but oh well, my car has other ideas.

Is the paint just faded, or is the clear-coat gone?
It could be rust due to oxidation if the coat of paint is thin.

clear isn't gone at all and the fade/oxidisation is at the rear of the roof with the first sign of rust showing at the front of my roof where the paint is richest/thickest.
