I mean it sounds EXACTLY like the ICM is responsible.
When the ICM dies, that's what happens.
Lets just see what the other guys can add.

timing belt.
happened to me years ago in my first Da9,
lucky for me the b18a was a free spinning motor so i didnt damage any of the head.

i didnt, i thought it was an electrical problem as the car wouldnt turn over,
just died on me driving on a straight road n lost all power, steering etc.
towed it to an auto electrician and he couldnt find the problem
took it to a mecahnic and took him a while to figure it out aswell, because the timing belt is the last thing youd think would snap.

OP can you describe what happened a bit more clearly? I think your best course of action would be to get the code read to see what the check engine light is telling you.
How low was the oil? It doesn't seem related but it might be.
i thought the K series has a timing chain?
Indeed they do, and it is intended to last the life of the car and I have never heard of one snapping.

thanks to your car, i missed my oppertunity to fish for some snappers today ; )
Can someone confirm if there is a sealent ring on the oem engine oil cap? my mates dc5 didn't have one, any chance of that causing the low engine oil pressure, and he notice that the engine drinks up oil fairly quickly ? common on dc5?

This thread made me lol at some comments.
K series (DC5 engines) don't run a distributor, so where did someone pull ICM from? They run coil packs.
The o-ring on the oil cap missing causing low oil pressure, if this was the case, dear me! Oil pressure is determined via the liquid, not the gases. You can have the car idling and pull the cap off, you'll just feel pulsating air.
Regards this problem, i'm not sure. Dr Honda can help you, shoot him a PM.
