Hi Guys

Dont know if I have posted in the correct location.(move if need be)

Currently I own a 2007 FD2 with 70k on the clock, after a visit at the mechanics I was advised that a clutch replacement is due very soon.

Anyone out there have the same scenario of a pre-mature clutch?

Really depends on how you treat it. Could last 1km, could last 100k kms +++

70k kms is not to bad at all.

mines an FD2 with 60k, and sometimes the clutch starts slipping... so ill be getting mine replaced next service too me thinks. i drive the car quite hard though, not sure how you drive yours. also let us know what the cost is mate!

It all comes down to the way the car is driven. Longevity could be as little as 5000km or well over 100000km

That's why you buy auto with paddle shift :P

+1. Though I have to admit that it's not nearly as fun as driving with a real stick and clutch but I love it on those lazy days.

before i sold my car, my oem clutch was still holding fine. Gripping upon 4k rpm launch, and has survived 4 trackdays. Had 90000kms on the odo, so i was quite happy =]

Really depends on how you treat the clutch...

over 110km, mine seems fine. haven't done many big wheel spins which is where a lot of the damage comes, but i always go hard, usually downshift smooth and alter revs so you don't feel the gear change, this helps a lot on clutch wear i think and makes the ride smoother for passengers.

how did they tell it needs to be changed, can they check the wear and tear of a clutch quite easily by hoisting it up? or just driving and feel it slipping? there are markings that show wear but i'm not sure how easy it is to see a clutch without taking a car apart, i don't know anything about engine mechanics

lawl i've got 24000km, and it was bought in sept. 07. Hope my clutch lasts!

and yes, paddle shift sux so much, u may as well not even bother using them... It's like it shifts 10sec after you press the butttons

Am I the only that thinks that the pedal set up on the FD makes it harder to heel and toe? I find most of the time when light braking i have to revmtach before I apply the brake ..

practice makes perfect, i usually toe toe under light braking lol

Wow 70k sounds like premature wear, my cars done 150k and i only just started noticing the slipping during the 140k's. Mechanic said I had about 30% clutch left and was due for replacement. Looking at getting it replaced on my 160k. Drove my car reasonably hard during my phase from 10-100km's have been driving alot more conservative lately tho bcoz i want my car to last a little while longer :p

it will make it a bit easier to have the break adjusted a bit lower about the height of the accelerator i reckon. But yeah ask the Stig says practice makes perfect. toe toe best way to go, not pro stile with one toe and rev the crap out of your clutch :D, my old civic died b4 the clutch went hahahah picture to the left.
