Are the 88 prelude speed sensors internal or external to the gearbox?

on an 88 prelude the electronic speed sensor is in the gauge cluster, driven by a cable that goes to the gearbox

whats it sensing if its in the gauge cluster? the sensor is in the gearbox..my question is it internal or external to the gearbox.

I know eg civics have the senor external.

re-read my previous post, the sensor is not in the gearbox, it's in the cluster, it's driven by a cable from the gearbox

the cable connects on the outside of the gearbox if thats what your asking

it's right next to the shift cable bracket at the back of the gearbox.
