Okay... well my 120,000km is due but i've only done 112,000km anyway lol...
They told me $950... (My Honda Dealership)
Now wondering... is this very excessive... like i know dealership rates are expensive but damn...
By the way.. this is for an 02' Integra Type R..
I have a warranty through Honda so it makes sense to continue my servicing there for the time being so im wondering what people think...

Thanks.

$950 sounds pretty reasonable for a Major Service I'd say.

I think for the 120,000kms if the following haven't been changed yet they would.
(Even though it should have been changed at 100,000kms)

Timing Belt
Fuel Filter
A few other shiz, I'll read through my log book later.

But might explain why its costing that much if it hasn't been done at 100,000kms.
Especially timing belt.

K series doesnt have a timing belt.

did you have a read of the 120k service in your book? if so what needs to be replaced?

just because u still have honda warranty, dont mean u have to pay their inflated service prices,
as long as u have a reputable mechanic service ur car and follow the log book and stamp ur books, there will be no reason for honda to knock back a warranty claim,
should u need to make one.

^ very true, long as a 'qualified' mechanic stamps it, the warranty should not be voided

but $950 sounds like a average price for dealer major service.

$950 is way too much, ask around there are other people out there that will do the same job and charge way less...upto you if you want to ruin the warranty if there is any left...

FARK THAT

Your car is 8 years old, what kinda warranty is that! You have no obligation to pay for their ripoff servicing, (if you don't have warranty that is..)

I get my minor servicing done for $100. They can stamp my log book too, so i can keep me 3yr warranty

IMHO don't worry about warranty. It is doubtful anything will go wrong with your car, Integras are ultra relaiable as we all know.

If you want to keep logbooks, then fair enough.

I know a specialist Honda mechanic in Brisbane who will do Logbook service, he's a little expensive, but still much cheaper than Honda.

On the other hand...

this could be a good time to learn how to service your own car. Most people don't know hoew ridiculuously easy it is, and you'll have a better understanding of you car. You usually only need 4 jack stands, a trolley jack and a basic socket/spanner kit. At SCA, you could get all these for about $200, and they'll last you for years. Or, you could borrow these from a mate.

Doing it yourself, you will be able to do a 120,000 service for less than $300 using Honda fluids and filters, as well as a good synthetic oil (which I recommend) and platinum/iridium spark plugs. That's a saving of $650, which you can pocket for mods and/or any replacement parts if needed down the track.

Have a think about that

^^^^pretty sure major service will need more than fluid change, i think they would also need to change some of the plugs/seals/rubber that gets worn over time.

isnt the 80,000kms the major service? or is it 120,000kms?
$950 is so expensive nonetheless. have you tried other dealers? i know that some dealers are more cheaper than the others...but dont go robert lane honda as they charge a lot more...

I don't know the maintainence schedule for the DC5, but I imagine it isn't much different that for a B series.

When I said $300 for parts, that would include:

Honda transmission fluid and plug washer
Top shelf synthetic oil, Honda oil filter + sump plug washer
Iridium or platinum spark plugs
Honda fuel filter
Honda brake fluid for flush
Honda coolant for cooling system flush

+possibly power steering fluid for flush.

Now thats needed for a full major service

Theres not a chance in hell that a Honda dealer would do all (parts and labour) for anywhere under $1,000!!!!

Sorry for the late reply.
Haven't had a chance to ring around as ive been busy with work.. Will be ringing around tomorrow and hopefully i can get a price around the 700-800 mark...
My starter motor is playing up on my DC5 hence why im continuing my service at Honda... It won't be replaced till it completly fails which sucks but such is life lol.. (2 n half yrs left on the warranty)
If i get my car serviced else where, i'd rather a mechanic who speciailises in Hondas, anyone know of someone in the northern district of melbourne??
Cheers

You don't need to change fuel filter on 120,000kms, since its an in-tank unit and changed every 80,000kms. the old model where the fuel filter is external (in the engine bay or outside the tank) they will need to be changed on 120,000kms.
