the car cranks, i can hear the fuel pump prime but im not getting any spark, i replaced the ICM 2 weeks ago with a new one so im gonna try putting the old one back in and see how that goes in the morning. the dizzy cap, rotor, coil, leads and plugs were replaced about 20-25 k kms ago (3yrs). Anyone else got an idea as to why im not getting spark? car was running fine with no probs untill i tried to start it 7 hrs later (10pm). Motor is a D16Z2 running on OBD-0.

Also thought i would post it in here as my car is pretty damn similar to a civic, mods can move it if they want to.

This page helped me alot It should give you a close to accurate diagnosis, might even be a discharged battery does your wipers or windows wind down slow ?

Battery is pretty strong, windows dont go down slow.

ive got everything to make a car start except for spark, im gonna try changing over the new ICM with the old one to see if thats the problem.

Was it working fine before? Did anything special happen just before the starting problem?

Coil?

The main fuel relay is worth checking too:

my 2 centss, ive had problemswith my car not starting back then too, now its fine or sometimes with some delay (im convinced that this is because old my old engine my voltage hasnt been checked out and possibly not as stable as it should be at times).

if its not the starter motor, my best bet would be to check if the fuel pump, i remember RACV doing this diagonsitc for me (well not me, my old man) by using a rubber mallet and hitting somewhere near the fuel tank of the engine.

maybe im wrong.

turns out it was the new ICM which has only been in there for 13 days, it completely sh!t itself. I hope the replacement one doesnt do the same....
