Hey guys,
I recently put a set of corolla sportivo rims onto my Jazz, it didn't quite fit my calipers so we put 5mm spacers all round, however now whenever i'm going over a bump ( uneven road etc ) at 40km+ the car squeaks, almost like the sound of a bicycle pump ( hence i am assuming shock absorbers working overtime ) will this cause damage to my car and does anyone have any advice on what to do about this?

What type of spacers did you use? Hubcentric or just plain flat spacers? Did you have enough thread length left over to properly secure the wheel nuts?

we used flat spacers, we had doubled up on one wheel too so that one is running 10mm the others are running 5mm (should probably take that one out), however the squeak seems to come from both the front wheels, the wheels are secured in and everything on it works fine, only the squeaking when going over bumps

did you do 10mm on one side and 5mm on the other? why
could it possibly just be your shocks?

If they are not hubcentric, then I suspect that the sound is coming from the rim rubbing against the spacer as it moves up and down. Without hubcentric spacers, the load is directly on the wheel stud and that can flex. I strongly recommend that you don't drive the car in its current condition because you can shear off the wheel studs and also because it is not road legal in its current state. Like p3akin suggested too, check your guards for any rubbing.

My guards have been rolled so I
doubt it is that, I think I will take your advice aarong, might repair my old rim and put it back on

you can still have rubbing with rolled guards if the offset is enough...the spacers might have done that....but i'd take aaronng's advice. if you NEED spacers make sure theyre hubcentric. flat spacers are only ok if they leave a considerable ammount of the centre hub for the wheel to be mounted on. remember, the wheel is mounted on the centre of the hub, not the nuts.

hmm, so what would the best course of action? ditch the rims altogether?
