hi guys,

I am a long time member, but I don't post very much.

I currently drive a modified nissan s13 silvia (don't flame me just yet), and have done so since 2004, it's been a long standing relationship that i'm about to part with. (see pic below)

during that time, a family member has owned a bone standard dc2 type r, it's a two owner car that was bought with 15,000kms and now has 104kms...
I have been sharing the driving of the honda in standard form for many years, and i do enjoy it.

i am going to part with my silvia in the coming months and once my silvia is gone I will take ownership of the dc2, I am now thinking i would like to add some modifications.

just to spice it up a little, without compromising comfort/reliablilty too much.

I have found a dc2 online that i love the look of, and i plan to model my integra very closely on this car: (see pics attached)

what i want to know is some information, and rough prices on the parts that i will be selecting.

can anyone comment on the following parts:

H&R springs
16" JDM ITR Wheels
2.5" 5Zigen Header
Spoon Midpipe
Spoon Street Type Muffler
T1R decat

also, i'd like to know peoples thoughts on aftermarket panel filters in the stock dc2 airbox...

i'd like to know what i could expect the car to feel like once it's riding on the 16 inch wheels and the h&r lowered springs, i love the way the car handles in standard form, and to be honest i don't want a crashy stiff shitty ride, i'm only looking to do the springs and wheels to improve the stance/look of the car.

as for the exhaust, could someone tell me what noise level i would expect from a setup like the one above?

and whether i could keep the aircon with those headers?

lastly, does anyone know what brand the weather strips are on the white dc2 i have posted pictures of?

sorry the pictures aren't in any order, but you should be able to decipher the two cars there.. and yes, my silvia is championship white!

all feedback would be great, i'm looking to build a reliable daily car with a bit of attitude, i will be looking to go to the HH hillclimb, and a few wrx club deca motorkhana days.

thanks,
greg-

Are you gonna own your family members DC2R or just completely different DC2 ?

sorry, i didn't make that clear.

i will take ownership of my family members dc2r.

i'm mainly interested in the wheels/springs combo.

and what effect that will have on the standard ride/handling, but am keen to hear others opinions on the other mods mentioned.
thanks,
greg-

If its just for street use king springs does the job it's good for daily driving. Your family members DC2R should look exactly like that one in the photo (besides exhaust). If you don't have those wheels it can be sourced on here for around $300-$500

oh ... what the eff no kidding ? I swear they look identical. Well I've learnt something today whats the difference just size ?

yes, audm is 15"x6" with 195/55/R15 jdm98 is 16"X7" with 215/45/R16

well, if you are planning to do hillclimbs and motorkhana, my suggestion is to use the money that u've planned for the header+cat+exhaust to mod your gearbox, brakes and good tyres instead.:honda:

If you're planning to go only springs on a dc2r, you may as well throw out your suspension as that will basically ruin your ride comfort and stuff up its geometry that it was built for.

Looks like you got a well treated dc2r so do it right and get some coilovers if you want to change the suspension, otherwise leave it oem

go for a set of cusco zero2 coilovers if u want a comfy ride and decent handling

thanks for the replies guys, i have been doing some reading...

after reading this:
http://www.autospeed.com/A_110683/cms/article.html

i think i'll leave the exhaust/intake alone for now.

also, thanks to the guys who commented on adding springs = ruining the suspension geometry, that is the sort of feedback i wanted.

I will be upgrading pads/fluid as soon as the car is mine, and good rubber goes without saying.

i'm reluctant to go down the aftermarket coilover path again, i have been there and done that with my last three cars, and to be honest, the cons far outway the pro's on a road car.

My s13 has japspec tein super streets, i bought them new from japan after riding in a friends car on the track, even they are terrible on Mlebourne roads, on the track they are great...

anyway, i'm hoping to get the car looking slightly "tougher" than standard without hindering daily comfort/usability.

so, i'm keen to hear more pointers on positive ways to improve the car with out ruining it!
