Gear Box Problems?

I'm getting a strange noise from my gear box.
I can hear it from gears 1 to 3!
A mechanic said it could be the bearings in the gearbox.

Could it be something else?

Would it be better to just get it fixed or find a secondhand gear box?

And how much would a D-Series gearbox be?

yeah likely bearings if it is still shifting fine lol .. i've got mine apart at the moment..

I figure any second hand box is likely to be just as worn and likely to fail soon after. I'd just fix it, replace syncros and bearings and away you go.. Can do yourself with some tools and patience..
