are there many major improvements on the newer models over the older ones?
wondering if i should bother paying the extra 5g for a newer model..they seem to go for around 26-27g.

or just pay around 20g for a nicely kept 97-98 model?

As far as i know of the 2001 had a 5hp gain over the previous models, so i wouldnt be paying 5g more for one. as for astetics there the same :D

yeah, will take me a while to find a 97-98 in perfect condition around here im guessing..

i kinda want a newer model for the leather - i love the tan leather option.
is it hard to find leather seats at wreckers? im in Perth..and prolly wont ever find one here, but over east maybe?

The later 5th gens have the added power of around 5hp or something over the earlier 5th gens. So basically u would be paying for a little extra power (hardly noticable anyway) and prolly the newer condition and lower k's, if u purchased a 2001 model.

If u think u think 7G is worth 5hp and lil less km's, then go for it mate!

a 97 would look just as good as a 2001 when it roars past anyway.....up to u man :)

if your happy with the power output then its fine...usually people prefer the VTIR model isntead

drive the Si and then make sure u also drive the VTIR...

i'm positive you'll know which one to buy after that ;) (HINT: VTIR)

remember Si is gd for cruising only and daily driving. Dont expect too much power out of it.

My dad managed to get a 97 model with leather and 55000kms on it for 20.5k a year ago. It was in mint condition and not a single scratch on the car or rims. Its a semi-automatic though. I reckon it doesnt really matter what year model your after since they are all the same spec. It just comes down to the condition of the car vs the price you pay for it.

yeah true.... because i was just considering this car because its very clean and low ks where as a vtir is around 22000$ for a 2001 model soo just wanted your opinion

well if its a newer model and its good nick etc...for good price...thats a bonus!

but dont limit yourself to wanting a newer model IMO...i settled for a 99' which was MUCH better condition than any 2000/2001 at that time..

so go by condition/KM for a certain price...rather than age :)

i dont trust kms on any modified car

just as a guide i got my 1998 prelude vtir with 51,000km bone stock with full logs and whatnot even has a log book for tyres from bob jane

got it for 18,500

leather would be worth 2k i think cause u can tell that the 1s with leather and the 1s without are around 2k apart in price

but with regards to resale im not sure

cause u can compare a old 4th gen lude and u can tell that leather doesnt add too much in resale value

If your going to pay that kind of money, and you want power? then why don't u get a S15, 6 speed and damn fun to drive!...i guess if your not interested in power then go for the Vti-R prelude...don't let the stats fool you, they may have similar KW figures, but the torque from the S15 far exceeds that of the prelude and you can feel the difference easily as soon as you drive one, generally newer as well, ie. later models.
