check your clutch fluid resevoir.

I can bet my ass that there is nothing in there and either the master or slave clutch cylinders have leaked it all out (which would mean having them replaced)

Have you got fluid leaks on the floor? Slave cylinder or master cylinder.

grifty
13-05-2010, 09:18 PM
could also be air in the system, if you cant find any leaks try bleeding the clutch line

tuanEH?
13-05-2010, 09:25 PM
^^ exactly what all those guys said, something similar happened to me before; turned out there was air in my system because didn't have enough fluid in reservoir.

rey2009
13-05-2010, 09:27 PM
is this more expensive then replacing the clutch:S

DLO01
13-05-2010, 09:30 PM
No. And less labour too.

13-05-2010, 09:31 PM
thank god good to here that

so basically car need servicing?

how do i check if its clutch fluid??

grifty
13-05-2010, 09:35 PM
open up your bonnet and check if you have fluid in the clutch master cylinder.

rey2009
13-05-2010, 09:39 PM
hmmm BRB ILL CHECK NOW IF I GOT A TORCH :P

btw where the clutch master cylinder:S

SiReal
13-05-2010, 09:53 PM
look either near your gearbox OR inside the cabin near your clutch pedal.

Lukey
13-05-2010, 09:56 PM
top left corner on the firewall. the smaller container with fluid is the clutch master cylinder

rey2009
13-05-2010, 09:59 PM
OK I CHECKD IT

THERE WERE TWO CONTAINTER ON TOP LEFT CORNER

BOTH WITH SAME GREY LID SAYING BLA BLA BLA BRAKE FLUID BLA BLA

one was very small one was big

big one is half
and small one is EMPTY

any idea guys??

just realised

wen my car is off and i clutch in the pedal doesnt pop out
and wen car is on it doesnt come out but after a while wen i keep pumpinh it up it comes out but very hard to change gear not clutching properly as clutch is very to the end:(

SiReal
13-05-2010, 10:00 PM
small one is clutch. u have a leak in the system. that is y ur clutch does ot work. ur clutch itself is fine, just the hydraulics arent working due to no clutch fluid.

now, go get some clutch fluid from honda and top it up. and get those master and slave cylinders changed asap.

rey2009
13-05-2010, 10:03 PM
why do i have to change cylinders wen my car just needs fluid:S

is it expensive getting master and slave cylinders:(??

SiReal
13-05-2010, 10:05 PM
u have to change them cos they are leaking. when they are leaking, the fluid goes. when the fluid goes, the clutch pedal wont work properly. when the clutch pedal doesnt work properly, u cannot engage and disengage the clutch

you could change only the main culprit but chances are, if u change one and not the other, the other will very soon shit itself due to the extra load placed on it from the new one.

as for price, i dont know , but it isnt too expensive parts wise and its a quick easy job. budget $300 maybe?

anyway, its a simple problem with a simple fix. if u still have no idea, just take it straight to honda and get them to sort it out.

rey2009
13-05-2010, 10:08 PM
is the master cylinder the big container and slave the small container?

cuz if it is then my master is fine cuz its halfway more then MIN and less then MAX

just the small container?

SiReal
13-05-2010, 10:10 PM
nono. the cylinders are NOT the containers. if u dont know what they are, i highly suggest you take it to a mechanic.

i recommend u jump onto google and do an image search.

tuanEH?
13-05-2010, 10:11 PM

Lukey
13-05-2010, 10:13 PM
top up the small one, pump up clutch, top up again. pump clutch.

keep checking it every few days and see how bad the leak is.

this happened to me once. my system has a tiny leak somewhere but its not major so i havent bothered replacing it. i top it up once a month or so, but not very much

grifty
13-05-2010, 10:52 PM
wtf seriously? You buy brake fluid for ur clutch?

well the clutch system does use brake fluid, it operates pretty much like a braking system as well.

mayb cuz i didnt service my car for more then 1 year lol so no fluid left?

even if you have not serviced your car for a year you should never have to top it off, so you definitely have a leak somewhere.

grifty
13-05-2010, 11:08 PM
your probably going to have to bleed the system when you put new fluid in because of the air trapped in the clutch line

pablos8
13-05-2010, 11:08 PM
Yeah if it's the way u drive treat ur car better man

you only get out what you put in, treat ur ride right n it'll be good back

tuanEH?

bleed the system meaning flushing out the old fluid and in with the new fluid. I'd suggest you go to Honda and get oem brake fluid instead of getting from supercheap. BTW it's dot 3 brake fluid :)

lilthug
14-05-2010, 12:32 AM
bleeding = removing air from system, no?

rey2009
14-05-2010, 04:15 PM
hey guyss

i finally put fluid in and bleed out the system and everything

clutch is back to normal now

however i didnt see any leaks or anything

Still sounds like a dying clutch master cylinder.

white_ep3_civic
16-05-2010, 08:46 PM
I agree sounds like the clutch master cylinder. It is a part on it way out cause it's not 100% undrivable yet

rey2009
16-05-2010, 09:11 PM
so it needs a change? is it expensive?

rey2009
16-05-2010, 09:31 PM
AND when i press clutch makes a sqeeky noise only when cars cold:S

Clutch master cylinder failure seems to be a common problem with all Hondas pre-2001, if it hasn't died then it is on it's way out.

All of your symptoms point to it, as has been stated before a new one from Honda is ~$100-120, and then there is the labour for a mechanic to change it out.

white_ep3_civic
17-05-2010, 01:51 PM
Prob wouldn't get it done by Honda though as they will charge a fortune for it
