On 6th gear at 100km/h my euro lux is at around 2,500RPM (not complaining though because the fuel consumption is really good at that speed)

However, i drove a euro (std) auto the other day and at 100hm/h it sits at 2,000RPM.
After driving it around for a while, i noticed that the auto changes up way too early. Feels like engine in bogged down all the time. Eg. sometimes it's still in fifth at below 60km/h (around 1500RPM). accelerating lighly you can definately feel the engine struggling (shuddering) but it won't shift down until i plant the foot down some more.

Is this normal for the 5spd autos in euro?

Thats quite strange as I drive a Euro Std 5AT and at 60km/hr, you should be around 3rd gear / 4th gear.. But it really depends on the incline and if you were slowing down from say 100km/hr -> 60km/hr, it might stay on 5th for a few seconds until the RPM drops..

What I find annoying is when you slow down, the downshift seems too rapid. Especially when you are going downhill at around 80km/hr (on a bridge) and theres a real fine line between downshifting to 3rd gear and staying on 4th cruising at constant 80km/hr. If I were to hold the brakes down a little harder, it will downshift and you'll get a loud roar at 3500ish RPM..

I dont have a euro but just to note my d16y4 auto civic sits at 2,750 rpm @ 100km/h and Timmy's d16y7 with a y4 Intake manifold and Throttle body sits at 2,700 rpm.

Manual should show 2400-2500rpm at 100km/h. The auto should be lower because of the longer gear, about 2100-2200rpm I reckon.

A CU2 Auto will run at about 2100RPM @ 100kph. on a flat road it won't change into top gear below 75kph, coasting down a hill it may hold top gear to a slightly lower speed, before automatically downshifting.

Sorry, drove to the coast today. It actually sits at around 2450 with no passengers. Sits about 2900 at 112ish.
